The Nats are apparently now interested in Heyward.

Yeah, looks to be Cards, Cubs, and Nats. Cardinals are confident in where they stand, but you never know. Will the Cardinals give Heyward the biggest contract ever in Cardinals history??? Will be an interesting next couple of days.

A few hours ago it was reported that it was the Cards, Cubs, and Angels. Now the Nats are the favorite? Sounds like the boy is about to get PAID. This will only be either a justified contract, or a massively painful flop of a contract. There's no arbitrage for these teams.

BOOM!!!  Sounds like we are still trying to trade either Soler or Baez for young MLB pitching.  The consensus is we will be talking with the Braves for Teheran, SD for Ross, TB for a few players, or Cleveland.  Loving the build of this team.  Young and will be together for a while!

1.  Zobrist

2.  Heyward

3.  Rizzo

4.  Bryant

5.  Soler

6.  Schwarber

7.  Russell

8.  Montero

9.  Pitcher

That is a f'ing lineup right there...  By the time Zobrist ages himself out of the lineup in 2 to 3 years, we will have either Torres or Happ up and ready.  Almora is a year out.  So we only need Heyward to play Center for one year unless Soler is traded for pitching.  That is a young and damn good lineup with some damn good minor leaguers ready to step in at all positions other than pitching.

Can't wait to see JHey's contract. Remember, remember, Alfonso Soriano....

Soriano actually put up decent numbers over the course of his contract.  The problem was he was a high strikeout guy that played on losing teams when he was expected to carry us.  He (like Heyward) cannot carry a team.  They are both top end Scottie Pippen types.  Can play their role excellent if they aren't the star.  He doesn't have to be that here at all.  We need slap hitters who will get on base at a high clip and play great defense.  I am not as worried about his contract when you have players like Bryant, Russell, and Schwarber making a collective $5 million over the next 3 seasons.  Even with his contract we will be in the 150 range.  Not bad at all.

Reportedly less than $200mil that was being tossed around.

There are some rumors of 8 years at 180 with an opt out after 4 years.  Which would be perfect because that is the year before Bryant, Russell, and Schwarber will be Free Agents.  $25 million A.A.V.  Not bad at all.  Then if he opts out and we try to retain, 2019 is the year the Cubs will get their TV deal.

Guess the cardinals are taking a sit back and suck approach? This has been a ver frustrating off season. Our offense sucked all of last year, and they've done nothing. Our two best pitchers last year are out (one to injury and free agency), with all four returners very injury prone, and we lost out on two of our top free agent wants.

Cards, please do something to make me happy! Oh, JHey, you can just go suck now!
