I still don't think Knorr is a bad DC, I just think he needs more time. He led that Wake Forest defense to put up decent numbers. Believe they were ranked in the 40's to 30's actually. He needs his players for his system, if we're not seeing any improvement by next season then maybe we need to go in a different direction.

Hopefully his third year at IU will yield improvements similar to what you've (M3) shared from his time at Wake.

I hope so too. That would be an incredible jump. It's unfortunate he didn't stay at Wake long enough for us to determine if he was actually the cause.

For perspective though, if we had our offense with a defense ranked around 34 this year, we would essentially be LSU.

I'd love to see that, but while I expect improvement, not sure I expect 60 spots better. Then again, from where we are now, that would put us somewhere around 65th. And that would have been enough to win us several games this year.

Me neither. How crazy would that be? We wouldn't know what to do with our hands.

Half of that improvement (65thish like you said) would make us UNC this year.

It's also not as simple as just looking at the rankings like I am. But it's fun!

Speaking on the topic of assistant coaches, former IU OC Seth Littrell is a finalist for the North Texas head coaching job.

He'll do well there. That's his area, tons of recruiting ties. Will be much easy to get the Texas boys to stay close to home than come to Indiana. He'll have a high scoring offense quickly.

I agree. Although all the more reason to make sure Johns is well paid so he doesn't bolt in similar fashion. Johns is young with a bright future. He is a QB coach who played QB in college and is a real asset to recruiting with his Midwest roots.

Interesting stuff, thanks.

In terms of total staff pay, we're better than I expected. Generally, I'm amazed at how little some of these guys make.

We're still pretty bad for a P5 and have lots of room for increase, but still better than I expected.
