Final day recap of east regional  --

Indiana Track & Field wrapped up its time at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday night. Khayla Dawson and Leah Moran highlighted the day as they will represent the Cream and Crimson in two events at National Championships.
 
After securing a spot in the shot put, Dawson became the first thrower to qualify for nationals in both the shot put and discus since 1992. Dawson earned her spot in the discus with a heave of 54.08m (177' 5").
 
Moran qualified in the long jump on Thursday and returned for the triple jump on Saturday. During her third attempt, she soared a distance of 13.19m (43' 3.25") to secure the ninth qualifying spot.
 
On the track, Kelsey Harris was the lone Hoosier to qualify as she had the second fastest quarterfinal time in the 1500m. Harris clocked a personal best 4:11.75.
 
The eight student-athletes who earned qualifying spots will next represent Indiana at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Championships are slated for June 9-12 at the newly built Hayward Field.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – The Indiana Track & Field jumps squad wrapped up the first day of the Commodore Challenge on Friday night.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Mahogany Jenkins placed third in the high jump with a mark 1.80m (5' 10.75").
• JaiQuan Earls and Kynton Grays placed second and third respectively in the long jump. Earls saw a leap of 7.17m (23' 6.25") while Grays secured a mark of 7.01m (23' 0").
• On the women's side of the long jump, Paola Fernandez-Sola locked down fourth and captured a mark of 5.77m (18' 11.25").
 
NOTABLES
• This marks the second consecutive time that Jenkins has cleared 1.80m or above this season.

ANN ARBOR, Mich.  – Indiana Track & Field wrapped its time at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational on Saturday Afternoon.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Shaton Vaughn advanced to the final of the 60m hurdles after capturing the sixth-fastest time of 8.68.
• Alyssa Robinson competed in her first 60m of the season where she clocked a personal-best time of 7.46 to advance to the final. Morgan Snow also advanced to the final with a time of 7.78.
• Antonio Laidler won his first event as a Hoosier as he finished first in the 60m with a time 6.84.
• The Hoosiers swept the 400m with Kaylee Lane winning the women's race and Kenny Benton taking the men's field. Lane clocked a time of 56.96 while Benton saw a time of 47.96.
• Hannah Stoffel and Camden Marshall won the 800m. Marshall saw a time of 1:51.60 while Stoffel crossed in a time of 2:10.10.
• Nathan Stone won the pole vault on Saturday afternoon by clearing a meet record height of 5.43m (17' 9.75").
 
NOTABLES
• Alyssa Robinson clocked the fastest 60m prelim time of 7.46.
• Stone's clearing height of 5.43m (17' 9.75") in the pole vault was the new meet record.
• Ryan Lipe cleared a height of 5.13m (16' 10") in the pole vault which was a season best.
• Hannah Stoffel picked up a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:42.24.
• Ben Veatch and Jake Gebhardt saw personal records in the mile. Veatch picked up a time of 4:01.42 and Gebhardt saw 4:06.11.

Last Time Out: Simmons-Harvey
The Hoosiers embarked on their first road trip of the season this past weekend.  The Simmons-Harvey Invitational hosted by Michigan was highlighted by Nathan Stone who set a meet record and six individuals who won their events.  Stone cleared a height of 5.43m (17' 9.75") to win the pole vault competition. Camden Marshall won his first event in the cream and crimson as he crossed the finish line in the 800m in a time of 1:51.60. Indiana completed the sweep of the event with Hannah Stoffel winning the women's race in a time of 2:10.10. Kenny Benton and Antonio Laidler picked up wins, Benton in the 400m and Laidler in the 60m. Kaylee Lane got the victory in the 400m with a time of 56.96 to complete the field of first place finishes.
 
Last Time Out: Commodore Challenge
The Indiana jumps squad traveled to Vanderbilt for the Commodore Challenge this weekend where they saw five top-3 finishes. JaiQuan Earls competed in the long jump and triple jump where he took second and third, respectively. He saw a mark of 7.17m (23' 6.25") in the long jump competition and 14.49m (47' 6.5") in the triple. Kynton Grays notched third in the long jump with a mark of 7.01m (23' 0"). Mahogany Jenkins had a second place and third place finish on the weekend, taking silver in the triple jump and bronze in the high jump. Her mark of 12.22m (40' 1.25") puts her tied for seventh on the program's all-time indoor list.
 
Stamping the Record Book
As the indoor season progresses, Hoosiers have made their mark on the record book in their respective events. This weekend, Indiana saw four marks make their way on to the all-time indoor list. Alyssa Robinson is now seventh after clocking a time of 7.46 in the 60m. Mahogany Jenkins leaped a mark of 12.22m (40' 1.25") at the Commodore Challenge and is now tied for seventh in school history. Hannah Stoffel made her way to 10th in the mile as she ran a time of 4:42.24. On the men's side, Nathan Stone is now sixth in school history with a clearance of 5.43m (17' 9.75").

Hustlin' Hoosier
Rikkoi Brahtwaite continues to pave his path among the NCAA Elite. The senior clocked a time of 6.54 in the 60m at the Hoosier Open on Dec. 10, 2021 which was a personal, meet, facility, and school record. He is now in sole possession of the Big Ten record and has recorded the fastest time in the 60m so far this season.  A native of the British Virgin Islands, 6.54 is the national record for the 60m which was also previously set by Brathwaite. He also went on to earn Big Ten weekly honors for the week of Dec. 12.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – Indiana Track & Field wrapped its first day of hosting of the Gladstein Invitational on Friday night. Day one was highlighted by senior Ben Veatch's first career sub-4 mile.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• In the last event of the night on the oval, Ben Veatch laid down a time of 3:59.73 for the first sub-4 mile for the Hoosiers this season. He also picked up the win in the event.
• The Hoosiers swept the top three spots in the men's 60m. Rikkoi Brathwaite led the way with a time of 6.56 and then was followed by Antonio Laidler (6.73) and Kenny Benton (6.81). Laidler's 6.73 was a personal best.
• JaiQuan Earls rounded out the quartet in the 60m finals by placing eighth and garnering a time of 6.98.
• Indiana also took the top three spots in the fast section of the 400m. Lauren Thomas picked up the victory in a time of 55.70 while Maria Anderson was second with a time of 55.93. Elizabeth Stanhope took bronze and captured a time of 58.17.
• Ana Barrott won the fast section of the 3000m, posting a time of 9:42.19.
• Taylor Jarosinski won her first collegiate event as she cleared a height of 3.70m (12' 1.5") in the pole vault. On the men's side, Ryan Lipe notched the win with a clearance of 5.25m 17' 2.75") to complete the Hoosier sweep of the event.
• Olivia Gee raced for the first time in the cream & crimson and put up a time of 9.14 in the 60m hurdle prelim.
• Adam Stouf competed in his first meet for IU on Friday night. He collected a mark of 17.35m (56' 11.25") to finish fourth in the weight throw.
 
NOTABLES
• Tyler Sierks was the runner-up in the pole vault after clocking a personal record of 5.05m (16' 6.75")
• Tristan Forsythe saw a fourth place finish in the 3000m with a personal best time of 8.14.59. Austin Haskett and Gabriel Sanchez also saw personal records in the event with a time of 8:15.10 and 8:19.37, respectively.
• Mariah Wehrle returned for her second meet of the season where she saw a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:59.84.
• Rounding out the list of personal records was Jayden Ulrich who heaved a mark of 19.31m (63' 4.25") in the weight throw and was the runner-up.
• The Hoosiers also took two through seven in the mile. Arjun Jha led the rest of the field with second place finish and a time of 4:05.55. He was followed by Jake Gebhardt in third, Camden Marshall in third, Dustin Horter in fourth, Keelan Grant in sixth, and Ben Miller in seventh.

 Indiana Track & Field returned to the Gladstein Field House on Saturday to wrap up hosting the Gladstein Invitational. The Hoosiers saw a total of nine event victories to close out the weekend.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Shaton Vaughn, Micah Camble, and Kenny Benton kicked off the second day of competition with a sweep of the men's 600m. Vaughn won it in a personal best time of 1:20.45 while Camble came in second and saw a time of 1:20.59. Benton also saw a personal record of 1:21.08 as he finished in third.
• The sweeps kept on coming as Hannah Stoffel, Kelly Mindak, and Maria Anderson finished as the top three in the 800m fast section. Stoffel picked up a time of 2:09.87 to lead the field while Mindak clocked a 2:11.25 for the runner-up spot. Maria Anderson placed third with a time of 2:11.54.
• Morgan Snow won the 200m fast section in a time of 24.95.
• The men's 4x800m consisting of Dustin Horter, Gabriel Sanchez, Keelan Grant, and Ben Miller combined for a time of 7:45.14 to take the victory.
• Indiana saw a sweep of the 4x400m relay to conclude the track events on Saturday afternoon.  The women's squad combined for a time of 3:46.44 and on the men's side, Vaughn, Benton, Parker Raymond, and Camble saw a time of 3:13.24.
• Mahogany Jenkins returned on Saturday morning to compete in the women's high jump where she took the victory with a clearance of 1.77m (5' 9.75").
• Maddy Pollard secured her first win of the season as she saw a mark of 16.39m (53' 9.25") in the shot put.
• On the men's side of the shot put, Adam Strouf saw his first victory with the Hoosiers. Strouf heaved a throw of 16.94m (55' 7").
 
NOTABLES
• Reece Proctor captured a personal record in the 800m after clocking a time of 1:54.15.
• The Hoosiers collected nine wins on the second day of the Gladstein Invitational.
• Dom Day and Crase Bergman made their season debuts in the long jump. Day leaped a mark of 7.19m (23' 7.25") for second and Bergman collected a jump of 6.54m (21' 5.5") for eighth.

Indiana Track & Field kicked off the highly anticipated IU Relays on Friday night inside Gladstein Field House. The Hoosiers saw six event victories and six personal bests.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• For the second meet in a row, Indiana has four moving on to Saturday's final of the men's 60m. Antonio Laidler was the overall leader with a time of 6.75 while Kenny Benton had the second fastest time, clocking a 6.81. Rikkoi Brathwaite enters Saturday's final with the third best time at 6.83. JaiQuan Earls rounded out the quartet with an advancing time of 6.95.
 Alyssa Robinson and Morgan Snow advanced to Saturday's final on the women's side. Robinson saw a time of 7.50 while Morgan Snow notched a personal best matching time of 7.63.
 Maria Anderson and Elizabeth Stanhope captured first and second in the 600m. Anderson captured a time of 1:31.90 while Stanhope saw a time of 1:32.64.
• The men's distance medley relay squad made their debut on Friday as they combined for a time of 9:33.69. The time captured by Camden Marshall, Kenny Benton, Parker Raymond, and Ben Veatch is the fastest in the NCAA so far this year.
• On the women's side of the DMR, Bailey Hertenstein, Robinson, Kelly Mindak, and Hannah Stoffel ran a time of 11:05.53 for second overall and in the NCAA this season.
 Sean Mockler made his Hoosier debut in the men's weight throw on Friday night. Mockler captured first place with a heave of 20.91m (68' 7.25").
• Earls was able to capture a personal best along with a victory in the long jump with a mark of 7.46m (24' 5.75"). He will return for the triple jump and the final of the 60m on Saturday.
• Indiana saw its men take the first and second spot in the men's pole vault competition. Nathan Stone returned to his normal self this week by clearing a height of 5.30m (17' 4.5") while Ryan Lipe cleared 5.20m (17' 0.75").
 
NOTABLES
• Mockler's mark of 20.91m (68' 7.25") in the weight throw is good for fifth in program history.
 Bailey Hertenstein, Alyssa Robinson, Kelly Mindak, and Hannah Stoffel's time of 11:05.53 in the DMR is now No. 5 the on Indiana's all-time list.  
 Ben Miller recorded a personal record in the 5000m with a time of 14:09.70.
 Skylar Stidam also set a personal best in the 5000m as he clocked a time of 14:16.62. 
 Alyssa Skorge saw a time of 4:56.54 in the mile on Friday night which was a personal best in the event.
• Also in the mile, Phoebe Bates came up with a time of 5:00.40 for her second personal best in a row.
 Paola Fernandez-Sola secured an indoor personal record in the long jump with a leap of 6.01m (19' 8.75").

Indiana Track & Field took home eight victories on the final day of the IU Relays that were hosted in Gladstein Field House.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• The Hoosiers kicked off day two with a one-two sweep of the men's 60m final. Antonio Laidler picked up the win with a time of 6.85 while Kenny Benton landed in second with a time of 6.93.
• Benton also went on to win the men's 400m and clocked a personal best of 47.12. Shaton Vaughn picked up at time of 47.57 for silver in the event.
• On the women's side of the 400m, Kaylee Lane raced to gold and secured a time of 56.55.
 Bailey Hertenstein made her season debut in the mile, locking in first place and a personal record of 4:42.10. Hannah Stoffel recorded a time of 4:43.99 to take third.
• The women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Kaylee Lane, Morgan Snow, Maria Anderson, and Robinson combined for a time of 3:45.09.
• In the men's 4x400m relay, Micah Camble, Shaton Vaughn, Parker Raymond, and Benton picked up a season best time of 3:10.55.
• Turning to the field, Mahogany Jenkins got Indiana going as she picked up the victory with a mark of 12.28m (40' 3.5").
 Maddy Pollard also saw a season best in the shot put after heaving a mark of 17.01m (55' 9.75"). Her teammate Jayden Ulrich rounded out the top-3 as she saw a mark of 16.56m (54' 4").
 
NOTABLES
 Bailey Hertenstein's time of 4:42.10 in the mile was the 10th best time in school history.
 Kenny Benton landed on the IU all-time list in the 400m with his time of 47.12.
 Elizabeth Stanhope secured a time of 2:09.39 in the 800m which was a personal best.
 Camden Marshall picked up a personal record in the mile, clocking a time of 4:02.80.
 Makayla Hunter made her first appearance in the shot put final where she saw a mark of 15.37m (50' 5.25") for a personal record.
• The Hoosiers saw two runners capture personal record under eight minutes in the 3000m, Arjun Jha with a time of 7:58.12 and Jake Gebhardt with a time of 7:59.26.
 Keelan Grant also saw a personal record in the 3000m, recording a time of 8:18.42.

Indiana returns to action next weekend at Notre Dame. The Meyo Invitational is scheduled for Friday Feb. 3 and Saturday Feb. 4.

IUTF Concludes Time At Meyo Invitational

 Indiana Track & Field wrapped up its time at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Freshman Camden Marshall toed the line in the 800m where he captured first place with a personal record time of 1:49.16. This is the second time this season that Marshall has won the event.
• The men's and women's 4x400m relay teams both saw season bests as they both took silver. Kaylee Lane, Morgan Snow, Maria Anderson, and Alyssa Robinson combined for a time of 3:41.25 which is seventh all-time in program history. Shaton Vaugh, Micah Camble, Parker Raymond, and Kenny Benton collected a time of 3:09.69 which marks the third best time in IU history.
 Kelly Mindak saw her season best in the 800m as she clocked a time of 2:05.99 to capture the bronze medal.
 Bailey Hertenstein picked up fourth in the 800m with a personal best of 2:06.74. Shynae Deas also saw a personal record in the event with a time of 2:11.16 which was good for fifth.
• Rounding out top-5 finishes, Vaughn crossed fourth in the 400. He notched a time of 48.89.
 
NOTABLES
 Camden Marshall's time of 1:49.16 is the sixth best indoor time in program history.
• Both Kelly Mindak and Bailey Hertenstein made their way into the IU record book on Saturday afternoon. Mindak (2:05.99) is now third all-time while Hertenstein (2:06.74) holds the ffith spot.
 Keelan Grant clocked a time of 4:10.01 in the mile for a new personal best.
• Kaylee Lane also picked a personal record as she placed seventh in the 400m with a time of 56.12.
 Mariah Wehrle set a new personal record in the 3000m as she picked up a time of 9:24.35.
• Also, in the 3000m, Phoebe Bates slashed 20 seconds off her previous personal best as she saw a time of 9:50.81.

Indiana returns to Gladstein Field House to host the annual Hoosier Hills on Friday, February 11. The final home meet commences at 4 p.m. with the final event beginning at 8:10 p.m. A group of Hoosiers will also travel to the Windy City Invite on Saturday, February 12.

Indiana Track & Field completed its first day at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday night and were highlighted by Ben Veatch who finished fifth in the 5000m.  
 
KEY MOMENTS
 Ben Veatch was the top Hoosier finisher in the 5000m as he finished in fifth overall with a time of 13:43.59.
 Austin Haskett shaved nine second off his personal best in the 5000m as he won section five with a time of 14:15.10.
 Kyle Mau made his season debut in the 5000m and clocked a time of 14:20.68.
 Anna Watson cleared a height of 4.00m (13' 1.5") in the women's pole vault to finish in fourth overall.
 Dustin Horter led the Hoosiers in the 1500m with a time of 3:48.07 to finish in 55th in a stacked field.
 
NOTABLES
 Camden Marshall competed in his first career 1500m on Thursday night. The freshman picked up a time of 3:50.23.
 Gabriel Sanchez and Keelan Grant raced in their first collegiate where they took sixth and 16th, respectively. Sanchez saw a time of 14:24.80 while Grant crossed in time of 14:39.76.

Indiana Track & Field concluded its time at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday afternoon.
 
KEY MOMENTS
 Alyssa Robinson got the Hoosiers off to a good start when she was the overall winner of the women's 200m as she clocked a time of 23.92.
• In the men's 200m, Antonio Laidler followed up Robinson's performance in the 200m with a personal best of 21.05 for another Indiana victory.
• In the men's 800m, Camden Marshall collected a bronze medal finish and captured a time of 1:51.13.
 Maria Anderson was the top Hoosier across the finish line in the 800m with a 21st place finish and a time of 2:09.64.
 Lauren Thomas, Robinson, Anderson, and Morgan Snow combined for fifth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:45.39.
• On the men's side of the 4x400m relay, Shaton Vaughn, Micah Camble, Parker Raymond, and Kenny Benton went 3:14.38 and took fourth place overall.
 
NOTABLES
 Morgan Snow collected a personal best and a top-10 finish in the 200m with a time of 24.39.
 Shaton Vaughn collected a time of 53.73 in the 400m hurdles to finish in the top-10.

Hertenstein Selected as B1G Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – The Big Ten Conference announced their weekly track & field awards on Wednesday afternoon. Indiana Track & Field's Bailey Hertenstein was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Hertenstein is coming off a weekend at the Raleigh Relays where she competed in the 5000m. She was the fifth collegiate and seventh overall across the finish line as Hertenstein clocked a time of 15:49.94.
 
Looking at the NCAA landscape, Hertenstein's time is fifth in the east region and fifth in the NCAA so far this season. She has the fastest 5000m in the Big Ten Conference in 2022.
 
Hertenstein and the rest of the Hoosiers track & field team will be in action this weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays. The meet is set to kick off on Thursday, March 31 and wrap up on Saturday, April 2.
