Indiana Track & Field concluded the first day of the Indiana Invitational under the lights on Friday night.  
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Kenny Benton and Antonio Laidler placed third and fourth in the 200m to kick off the meet for IU. Benton saw a personal best of 20.93 while Laidler crossed in a time of 20.99. 
• In the women's 400m hurdle race, Maria Anderson captured a personal record as she won the event in a time of 1:01.53. On the men's side, Shaton Vaughn picked up fourth while Micah Camble saw fourth.
• Bailey Hertenstein captured silver in the 1500m in a season best time of 4:14.19. Hannah Stoffel also saw a season best with a time of 4:17.23 as she came in fifth.
• On the men's side, Camden Marshall led the Hoosiers with a fourth place finish and a personal best time of 3:42.50.
• Kyle Mau bounced back this week, capturing third in the 5000m and going a time of 13:54.34.
• To round out the night, Ben Miller and Skylar Stidam competed in the 100000m.
 
NOTABLES
• Four other Hoosiers clocked personal bests in the 1500m, Dustin Horter (3:43.14), Jake Gebhardt 3:44.83, Austin Haskett (3:47.08), Gabriel Sanchez (3:47.09).
• In the women's 1500m Sarah Schmitt, Jenna Barker, and Mikaela Ramirez saw personal records. Schmitt saw a time of 4:19.03 while Barker crossed in a time of 4:21.52. Ramirez rounded it out with a time of 4:25.46.
• Hannah Stoffel's time of 4:17.23 saw a personal record and is good No. 5 all-time in IU history.

Indiana Track & Field completed the first day of Penn Relays on Thursday where they were paced by Sean Mockler's school record throw in the men's hammer championship.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• On his final throw in the hammer, Sean Mockler stepped into the ring and threw down a mark of 68.68m (225' 4") to place second. His mark is the new school record along with a personal record.
• Two Hoosiers competed in the 5000m, and both captured personal bests. Mikaela Ramirez went 16:18.37 for ninth place while Mariah Wehrle picked up a time of 16:22.29 to place 10th.
• Jake Gebhardt led the Hoosiers in the steeplechase with a time of 9:00.44. Austin was the next IU runner across the finish line as he saw a time of 9:05.07. Keelan Grant rounded out the trio with a time of 9:12.98.
• Maddie Dalton raced to a time of 4:34.31 in the 1500m while Gabriel Sanchez captured a time of 3:53.39 in the men's race.
• Completing the night for Indiana, Ana Barrott went 34:34.75 for a personal record and a ninth place finish.
 
NOTABLES
• Sean Mockler's mark of 68.68m (225' 4") in the hammer throw is the 11th best mark in Irish history. This was Mockler's first time at the Penn Relays.
• Nine other Hoosiers raced in their first career event at the Penn Relays. Alyssa Skorge, Jake Gebhardt, Keelan Grant and Austin Haskett competed in the steeplechase while Maddie Dalton and Gabriel Sanchez competed in the 1500m Mikaela Ramirez and Mariah Wehrle raced the 5000m and Ana Barrott competed in the 10000m.

 For the second Penn Relays in a row, Indiana Track & Field is bringing home a relay wheel. The men's sprint medley relay squad took gold with a school record time.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• As time was winding down on the second day of the Penn Relays, Antonio Laidler, Rikkoi Brathwaite, Kenny Benton, and Camden Marshall laid down a school record time of 3:17.39 in the sprint medley relay to capture the relay wheel for IU.
• Brathwaite, Benton, JaiQuan Earls, and Laidler got IU going on the oval in the 4x100m Championship of America where they were able to capture a spot in Saturday's final. The quartet ran a season best of 40.17 that placed them third in their heat and eighth overall.
• The women's distance medley relay Championship of America brought a third place finish to the Hoosiers. Hannah Stoffel, Morgan Snow, Kelly Mindak, and Bailey Hertenstein combined for a time of 10:59.54 in their first crack at the DMR this outdoor season.
• On the men's side of the Distance Medley Relay Championship, Dustin Horter, Shaton Vaughn, Parker Raymond, and Ben Veatch went a time of 9:48.09 to place ninth.
• Brathwaite and Laidler advanced to Saturday's final of the 100m. Brathwaite captured a time of 10.29 while Laidler went 10.47.
• The men's 4x400m relay consisting of Shaton Vaughn, Micah Camble, Parker Raymond, and Benton combined for a time of 3:11.15 to appear in tomorrow's Championship of America final.
• Grayson Rolen was first up for Indiana in the field as he collected a personal best of 2.09m (6' 10.25") in the high jump to place third.
• Jayden Ulrich captured her second win in a row in the discus with a heave of 51.51m (169' 0"). Maddy Pollard placed fifth with a mark of 49.28m (161' 8").
• Adam Strouf competed in the college shot put competition where he collected a mark of 17.14m (56' 2.75") and finished in fourth.
• In the men's college long jump, Earls leaped a mark of 7.15m (23' 5.5") as he finished in fifth overall.
• Makayla Hunter threw the javelin a distance of 43.09m (141' 4") to place fourth overall.
• Ending the Hoosiers night in the field, Mahogany Jenkins leaped a mark of 12.42m (40' 9.5") and finished in the bronze medal spot.
 
NOTABLES
• This was the first Sprint Medley Relay Championship of America for the Hoosiers in school history.
• Both men's SMR and women's DMR secured programs records. The men's SMR crossed in a time of 3:17.39 while the women's DMR saw a time of 10:59.54.
• Rikkoi Brathwaite, Kenny Benton, JaiQuan Earls, and Antonio Laidler are slated to compete in the Men's 4x100m Championship of America Relay on Saturday beginning at 1:05 p.m.
• With Brathwaite and Laidler advancing to the final of the 100m, they will compete at 2:26 p.m. on Saturday.
• The quartet of Shaton Vaughn, Micah Camble, Parker Raymond, and Benton will compete of the Men's 4x400m Relay Championship of America final tomorrow at 3:35 p.m.

Brathwaite Takes 100m Championship On Final Day of Penn Relays

 In front of a packed crowd, Indiana Track & Field concluded the 126th running of the Penn Relays on Saturday afternoon.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• Rikkoi Brathwaite and Antonio Laidler competed in the final of the 100m on Saturday afternoon. Brathwaite crossed the finish line first with a season best time of 10.28. Laidler placed seventh and captured a time of 10.48.
• The men's 4xMile consisting of Dustin Horter, Kyle Mau, Ben Veatch, and Camden Marshall placed seventh and combined for a time of 16:19.01.
• In the women's 4x1500m, Jenna Barker, Hannah Stoffel, Bailey Hertenstein, and Sarah Schmitt broke the school record with a time of 17:25.00. They placed fourth overall.
• The men's 4x100m returned for the final where Brathwaite, Kenny Benton, JaiQuan Earls, and Laidler captured a time of 40.92.
• Shaton Vaughn, Micah Camble, Laidler and Benton were last up on the track for the Hoosiers as they combined for a time of 3:08.86 and placed fifth.
• Maddy Pollard and Jayden Ulrich competed in the women's shot put championship, picking up third and fourth, respectively. Pollard heaved a mark of 17.45m (57' 3") while Ulrich put a mark of 17.42m (57' 2")
• Mahogany Jenkins competed in her second event of the afternoon, clearing a height of 1.76m (5' 9.25") for fourth place in the high jump championship.
 
NOTABLES
• This was the first Penn Relays Championship win for Rikkoi Brathwaite. He captured the Penn Relays watch in the 100m with a season best time of 10.28.
• Jayden Ulrich saw a personal best in the shot put with her mark of 17.42m (57' 2").
• Maddy Pollard captured a season best of 17.45m (57' 3") in shot put.
• The men's 4x400m relay squad picked up a season best time of 3:08.86.

Mark It Up
The Hoosiers saw a plethora of marks that made its way into the Indiana record book. At Billy Hayes Invite, two Hoosiers moved up or entered the IU all-time list in the respective events. Nathan Stone moved up to No. 5 all-time after clearing a height of 5.45m (17' 10.5") in the pole vault. Mahogany Jenkins is now tied for fourth after seeing a clearance of 1.78m (5' 10").
 
Looking at East Prelims
On May 25-28 Indiana will play host to the 2022 NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Round. To qualify for the prelims, an individual must be in the top-48 of their respective events. On the relay side, a quartet must be in the top-32 of their relay event. Seven Hoosiers are sitting in the top-15 of their events.

Indiana Track & Field completed day one of the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday night. Six Hoosiers advanced to the final of their respective events while another three had podium finishes.
 
KEY MOMENTS
 Shaton Vaughn got Indiana started on the track by advancing to the final of the 400m Hurdles. Vaughn matched his personal best of 51.01 and will appear in the final at 3:28 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
 Antonio Laidler and Kenny Benton are moving on to the final of the 200m. Laidler crossed in a time of 21.01 while Benton saw a time of 21.04. The final of the 200m is scheduled for 3:42 p.m. ET on Sunday.
 Hannah Stoffel is making her way to the final in the 1500m after going 4:23.13. Stoffel captured an automatic spot in the final on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. ET.
 Ben Veatch and Gabriel Sanchez advanced to Sunday's final of the men's 1500m. Veatch saw a time of 3:46.84 while Sanchez crossed in a time of 3:46.94.
 Sarah Schmitt just missed the podium in the 10000m with a time of 35:05.89 as she placed ninth.
 Sean Mockler was the first Hoosier in the field where he took the bronze medal in the hammer throw with a mark of 68.64m (225' 2").
 Anna Watson cleared a height of 4.18m (13' 8.5") in the pole vault to place fifth overall.
 Makayla Hunter competed in the javelin throw where she placed seventh with a mark of 41.96m (137' 8").
 
NOTABLES
• This was Sean Mockler's first Big Ten medal of his career. Mockler took the bronze medal in the hammer throw.
 Makayla Hunter hit the podium for the first time in her young career. She placed seventh in the women's javelin.
• Six Hoosiers punched their ticket to the final of their events, Kenny Benton (200m), Antonio Laidler (200m), Shaton Vaughn (400m Hurdles), Hannah Stoffel (1500m), Gabriel Sanchez (1500m), and Ben Veatch (1500m).
 Mikaela Ramirez ran her first career 1000m where she went a time of 35:34.72.

As we head into the final day of the championships, here's an update on the Governor's Cup competition.  We hold a 9.5 to 8.5 advantage over PUke with 1 point up for grabs in the men's competition and 1 point in the women's.  After 6 of 21 events have been completed on the men's side, PUke is in 5th place overall with 22 points and our Hoosiers are in 11th with 7 points.  On the women's side, 9 of 21 events have been completed and our Hoosiers are in 7th place with 22 points; PUke women (and I use the term loosely) are in 12th place with 5 points.

 

 Indiana Track & Field competed on the second day of Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships where Jayden Ulrich saw a Big Ten Individual title in the women's discus.
 
KEY MOMENTS
• On her final throw, Jayden Ulrich stepped into the ring and delivered the largest throw of the day and her career in the discus. Ulrich saw a mark of 59.01 to earn her first Big Ten Championship medal.
• After qualifying for the 200m final on Friday, Kenny Benton advanced to the final of the 400m with a time of 47.23. The men's 400m final will run on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. ET.
 Rikkoi Brathwaite and Antonio Laidler will return in the men's 100m. Brathwaite saw a time of 10.25 while Laidler went 10.35. The final is scheduled for 2:55 p.m. on Sunday.
 Hannah Stoffel will run two events on Sunday afternoon as she already qualified in the 1500m on Friday and advanced in the 800m on Saturday. Stoffel collected a time of 2:09.16.
 Camden Marshall is the lone Hoosier moving on to the men's 800m final as he captured a time of 1:49.14 to advance. The race beings at 3:08 p.m. on Sunday.
 Jake Gebhardt ended the night for Indiana as he placed eighth overall in the steeplechase with a time of 9:06.97.
• In the field, Paola Fernandez-Sola scooped the bronze medal with a leap of 6.09m (19' 11.75").
 
NOTABLES
 Jayden Ulrich competed in her first outdoor Big Ten Championship of her career and captured gold in the discus. Her championship secured her All-Big Ten First Team honors.
• Camden Marshal made his first appearance at the Big Ten Outdoor meet where he advanced to the final of the 800m.
• Five more Hoosiers advanced to the final of their respective events, Rikkoi Brathwaite (100m), Antonio Laidler (100m), Kenny Benton (200m), Hannah Stoffel (800m), and Camden Marshall (800m).

IUTF Earns 27 NCAA East Preliminary Round Bids

The NCAA announced their field for the East Preliminary round on Thursday afternoon. Indiana Track & Field collected 27 entries into the NCAA East Prelim.
 
Athletes who ranked among the top 48 in their respective events earned a berth into the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. In addition, the best 24 relays times advanced to the NCAA preliminaries. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary Rounds sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Freshman thrower Jayden Ulrich enters the prelims as the top-seed in the discus after her massive throw of 59.01m (193' 7") at Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships that earned her the individual gold medal. Another Big Ten Champion in the mix is Nathan Stone who will compete in the men's pole vault. He is seeded seventh in the East.
 
The Hoosiers will play host to the NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Round this year. The meet is schedule to begin on Wednesday, May 25 and wrap up on Saturday, May 28.
