Man, that escalated quickly. Almost like a dam broke. Flash floods are crazy.

It gets pretty crazy out here. We do a trail that crosses a creek 20ish times before having to hike up the creek to a secluded waterfall. A Boy Scout was killed there from flash flooding in the mid 90s. I've seen that creek rise several feet in a matter of minutes. The windward side of the Koolau are no joke.

Those stills of the James are amazing. I'm thinking I might need to get me one of these.

I have heard stories of flash floods like that but have never seen it. Water ways don't seem to rise that fast here in the Hoosier state but can be very dangerous once they do rise. I have made my share of water rescues to victims who try to cross swollen creeks.
