Seems like a perfect walk on candidate. He caught fire one game in front Crean and Crean fell in love. He's a capable shooter with capable size so there is a chance but he consistently puts up underwhelming games. Screams another Priller like signing except the timing.

I still say and have always said, if you want a one dimensional shooter, find it through grad transfer route. Much easier evaluation.

Honestly, most of our walk ons were pretty good HS players. I think back over 30 years of all the kids that were very good Indiana HS players I've watched who played sparingly for a MAC school or went DII and I just don't see B1G talent with Gelon. Heck, even Priller was a good HS player and 6'9" to boot. And the timing? Very perplexing.

Well for starters Matt Roth was recruited by a 6 win team and contributed nicely while he was here.

Matt Roth was signed by Sampson, first of all.

You must be misremembering. I LOVED Matt Roth but to say he's substantially better as a prospect/player than Gelon? How do you guys know that if you've never even seen Grant play?

"Contributed nicely" what does that mean? He was a great comrade. Great shooter. What else did he contribute? And why can't Grant do the same thing, but at 6'5"?!

Roth was a very good HS player. And probably would have whooped Grant. Obviously Grant wasn't dominate by any means or any aspect of the game.

Maybe be sure to get hot one game when a coach is in attendance.

Because that's what happened?

You truly think they watched one game before offering? This wasn't a risk move or a chance taken or a flier. He wanted Gelon.

Roth would've whooped Grant? Okay, man. I give up.

I get it. You're trying to hype yourself for a recruit. That's cool. But realistically he should have never been offered. Same with Priller. Roth was a much better player in HS.

Man I don't understand the Roth thing, as high school players these two aren't even close, Matt Roth was a much better player. I'm going to assume Matt Roth will be a much better college player, but if you think Gelon will get to where Roth was good for him then.

People compare them because both are white and 3 point shooters. Though Roth was a better 3 point shot MAKER.

If Gelon turns out to be an outside sniper by his junior year that would be great. However, why not go the grad transfer route to snag an outside sniper you don't have to wait in for 2-3 years. I guess if he's a good teammate, stays out of trouble, and works hard he is a good next to last bench guy. Hopefully we don't lose out on a 2017 recruit because we don't have spots available...

Wait what. lol noooo

For all I know, Grant will be a small impact guy. But there's really no reason to write the kid off before he even shows up! He might show up and find his niche

I'm gonna go out on a limb here... and say that I could beat him 1 on 1. That there are several people in this site that could. How many people on this site played for Indiana? Lol.
