Is Banner 6 a realistic possibility?

I did not say anyone called him a project. I'm saying a 6'10"big with skills can defend the paint better than a 6'6"-6'7" wing!

That still doesn't change the fact that he will not fix some of our issues.  Having the world's finest matadors on the perimeter was just as big of an issue on defense as a lack of a big, and Bryant won't correct that.  Actually, unless they suddenly start giving a crap about defense instead of viewing it as that thing between neighbors yards he could just end up in foul trouble.

Most those matadors on the perimeter were in their 1st year with the team. I'm sure Vic and Will struggled their freshman year on the defensive end. With an extra year under their belt (and hard work) they became better defensively. It's not like hulls or Roth were ever lockdown down defenders but they managed to be productive. I see nick on the defensive level has hulls. Yogi has been the point guard on 2 Iu teams that finished in the top 50 in defensive efficiency and 1 that finished in the 200's.

I think its more likely he will play on his 3rd team with a defense in the top 50 then playing on one in the 200's. I feel robert and james will improve on defense (not all big ten but enough to make a difference)
I'm assuming the people who say the defense won't improve are implying robert, james, nick, and yogi won't work on it in the off season? If we can have a top 50 defense with evan, yogi, stan in the rotation (17-15 year) then I'm cautiously optimistic we can with james, Robert and yogi with bryant as a rim protecter like noah was that year

I think the defense will improve, but I have my doubts it will improve enough. Blackmon has never and probably will never be known as a good defender, even if he does improve. Troy isn't a good defender in his own right either. Defensive rating isn't a fan of Yogi either, actually he's rated pretty poorly two of his 3 years. You can scheme around one bad defender to help hide them, but not multiple.

A top 50 defense won't be good enough to get the job done, you need more like a top 15. We've only had a top 30 once in the last 7 years, and this same coach has an average defensive efficiency in the mid 90s over his career (yes, I've done the research). So even if the defense improves, and I think it will, I have very serious doubts it will improve enough.

bleacher report did an article in 2013 about the blueprint of an ncaa champion. Really interesting article defiantly worth reading. I would provide a link but I don't know how, if someone else would provide it. Thank you

The one team that makes me poop in my pants is Virginia . I believe all their starters return and have the defense that can neutralize our perimeter game. The only way for us to beat them is to constantly for us to make in game adjustments. I hope coach can do it. Everyone else, I think we have a fighters chance with.

they lost their most important player justin anderson to the nba draft. They would have probably been the preseason number 1 if he would of stayed

They lost Justin Anderson. He was rusty against MSU and they lost. I think w/out him we could beat em

Motion to exclusively refer to Hanner as Hammer from now on.

my phone corrected it a few months ago and I've always thought about it... Thought you guys would think it would be dumb though, thanks for the vote of confidence :)
