Indymike7 Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 dcoble9, I think I can respond to your Hartman non-sense. He is not one dimensional on offense, he is the only player constantly setting screens and knows how to pass the ball. I guess that makes him 3 dimensional! On defense, sure he is not a great one on one defender, but he constantly denies his guy the ball (so he doesn't have to guard him one on one) He also blocks out (usually the other teams top rebounder) every available opportunity. I love it when people just watch the ball, have no clue what's really going on and run somebody down just because of their own ignorance (not). 87 Rides a Surfboard, WayneFleekHoosier, djsalway and 3 others 6 Quote

Wow he can pass and set screens I'm pretty sure our new comers can do that. But how does he score? He is not all around on offense he is a shooter and that's it. I def don't see him posting up on anyone. I wouldn't put him at the four no way because now you only have one guy down there on the boards and where is your "power forward" standing out in no mans land!! We depend on the 3 way to much guys sorry I would rather have a whole team of consistent drivers and slayers than a team that stand out and shoots threes all day! Yogi- can drive and good handles and can shoot Jbj- can drive and decent handles and can shoot Rojo- can drive and decent handles and can shoot Troy - can drive and ok handles and below average shooter HARTMAN- can NOT drive and NO handles and very good shooter All I got to say is if OG showed me he could drive and he had decent handles and decent shooter I would def start him over Hartman If Hartman can show improvement in driving and ball handling then he be a great fit but until then I would do this Yogi/Rojo Jbj/ zeis Troy/ Hartman Holt/OG/Morgan Bryant/Hanner Quote

Yogi was the best defender defending people sometimes at least a foot taller or the other teams best perimeter player. Was the hardest defender by far.[/quote Yogi can defend haha ok um please ask Fred van vleet how good of a defender yogi is! If you can defend it should show every game not just some games sorry but if yogi could defend we would of won that game Quote
Hoosiers High Life Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 And OG would be a good fit at the 4 spot he is 6' 8" with 7' 2" wingspan so he isn't all that undersized Quote
Popular Post Indymike7 Posted April 16, 2015 Popular Post Posted April 16, 2015 Well, maybe if Collin can become a 4 dimensional player, he would be able to set screens for himself. That would make him better at driving to the basket. You want 5 guys playing one on one, your line-up works. You want team ball, put Hartman on the floor. You fell short and gave no defense response? Disappointing......... thebigweave, HoosierD, Hovadipo and 5 others 8 Quote
bleedhoosier Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I dunno. Hartman actually took some dudes to the rack and outsmarted them for the finish. He also was torching from deep until his knee/thigh injury. Regardless he was blocking on the other end before the injury. We will see in several months but I don't really see why unproven freshman would get the nod over a junior, stronger, smarter, healed Hartman. Anyway, neither should be starting but Hartman as the new sheehey would be fantastic. He can definitely shoot better HoosierAloha, thebigweave, Bobman1 and 1 other 4 Quote
Hoosiers High Life Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Does everyone on here want to play small or what? Not me we need height!!! So unproven freshman shouldn't start? I don't hear you complaining bout Bryant starting he hasn't played anything close to big ten basketball so is he proven just cause he is McDonald's all American? What separates him from OG and Morgan? Please tell me since I'm "ignorant" Quote

This season wasn't the first time we ran a 3 guard lineup, and our coach hasn't shown much willingness to change things. I really see the lineup looking like did this season with Bryant in place of Hanner. Quote

I wouldn't mind seeing Holt or Morgan at the 4. Regardless all players need to improve both what they do best, vastly improve their weaknesses, and somehow develop defensive toughness. What impact can you bring? Mainly the garbage things that nobody really likes to do -- setting screens, offensive boards, diving after balls, hustle plays, getting back on defense. Just getting in there and working. dcoble9- just because someone can't beat everyone off the dribble and doesn't have the best handles mean that they are one dimensional. Juwan said he does the garbage plays., that no one else likes to do. This is like what Collin does but Collin can shoot 3's vey effectively. OG talked a lot about how he can shoot 3's but we haven't seen any of our recruits play a college game yet so we don't know how good they are. HoosierAloha and Hovadipo 2 Quote

NRT137 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 With our lineup of yogi, Troy, jbj, hanner, Bryant, ROJO, Hartman, zeisloft, and hanner, I expect nothing less than final, and will be very disappointed if we don't make it to the final 4. If we don't make it to the sweet 16, I predict that ctc has been given a good enough chance with this lineup. We should go undefeated at home. Quote

I prefer to clone Yogi or Bryant for a backup point or another low post player. Haha just messing with you. We should have a solid lineup and specialized lineups. rebelhoosier848891 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Now that Yogi is official-----I go with Yogi--JBJ---Troy---Holt---and Bryant. Can you imagine how great it is going to be to be able to field a team with shot blockers all along the front row? Now that's what I'm talking about! :ninja: Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I still have to say Yogi JBJ Troy TB Hanner At least a couple games to see how they function. I like the Holt line up too. I like the traditional lineup better than the 3 guard option. Although, I like the 3 guard option in some instances but not as our base offense. Quote
JaybobHoosier Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Now that we have the key pieces back and known: - Yogi - JBJ - Rojo - Williams - Bryant I don't see Hanner and Bryant starting together, but who knows. Jketch 1 Quote

Chips&Dipo Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Now that we know who will be back, I really like the idea of having Yogi, JBJ, Troy, Hartman, and Bryant starting. Yogi's ability to dish, drive, and shoot (he will be the all time assist leader). JBJ's ability to shoot (and hopefully better at driving). Troy hopefully takes the jump and gets a good jumpshot (although his shot showed signs of vast improvement) and his ability to BREAK THE RIM. Hartman with his utility ability and three point shooting (as well as his ability to rebound and block shots effectively. He was the teams second leading shot blocker and isn't as jumpy as hanner). Bryant's bad boy block attitude. Getting buckets, rebounds and rim protection. Although, if Coach chooses to move Troy to the four, hartman off the bench, and have ROJO in there instead I would be okay with that. As long as everyone works on defense. Quote
