Potential coaching change suggestions

Recommended Posts

I truly am a newbie here so bare with me. I have read numerous pages of this thread and was noticing something. I haven't seen much in the way of discussion about Alumni Donors and Boosters. Wouldn't they or don't they have a huge influence on athletics and particularly Hoosier Basketball? In other words if some high profile (aka rich) donors said its time for a change, wouldn't the administration say 'yeah your right it's time for a change'? My thinking is I'm not real sure if all my complaining would matter it always comes down to where the money comes from. Now having said that I'm sure all of us that wants a coaching change can maybe influence a little. But again follow the money. Just a thought!!

True. I only know 1 big donor and he was fed up last year, wanted Crean gone. Just talked to him the other day and he wanted Archie Miller fwiw.

Not sure if this is the thread for this but I know several well heeled individuals involved with IU in various forms, here is a consensus;

1. They, none of them, believe Cream will return, most likely due to a resignation

2. There is a current unhappiness with glass as well

3. The Crean's aren't the happiest in b town

4. They believe the athletic department is prepared to offer "approximately double" to the new coach

I am not staking my rep on this, just more smoke

Double to what the new coach is already making?

Those were my thoughts as we'll, I gotta stress that I don't know all the guys I've spoken to that well, except for one. But their status and probable connections cannot be denied. I wouldn't have posted it if it weren't for the fact that they all said basically the same thing.

Ive had enough of Crean as well, but I still think he is probably here next year and all year the fan base will be having this type of discussion

Crean is not a fool and I would imagine he knows the stress another season like this one could really cause a lot of strain on his family.  I'm not condoning all the stupid stuff people do i.e. chatting as his sons game, fans booing/disrespectful comments.  If he doesn't land a top notch big next season could get really ugly for Crean.  I believe he will take that into consideration over the next few weeks.

True, but money talks and I don't see him walking away from it. He is a quirky enough guy to keep going. Plus from the sounds of everything I'm reading and hearing from others, Thomas Bryant is most likely ours to lose right now

I think we are the leader for Bryant as well but a lot can change.  Money talks A LOT but an unhappy wife = unhappy life.  It's not like he would be losing a ton of money if he walks away to take another job.

Unless we lose against Northwestern on Thursday, I see Bryant coming here and Crean staying. I know the rumor is that his wife and family don't want to be here anymore but Im not buying into that just yet.  I guess we'll see what happens on Thursday
