(2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU

Recommended Posts

Chicken and the egg. Yogi stays if Bryant commits. Bryant commits if yogi stays. Love me some college basketball.

Who knows how Yogi is looking at it, but it sure sounds to me that once Bryant knows whether Yogi is returning, his recruitment will become a lot clearer

Nope, lower is better for Defensive Rating. Just measures points per possession given up while you're on defense.

Yeah I went and looked it up and found that. I was thinking this whole time that Yogi progressed really well and Jordy did, in fact, suck on defense.

Just intercepted this on the net, going to Thomas Bryant.

@Jim_Boeheim: Dude, I've been dreaming about you a long time. I mean, really intense dreams. Of course, I can't provide details or stuff like that or the NCAA will be up my ass again, but I've had them just the same, and you need to know it. I've "Creaned" some guys from the team, (thought you'd get a chuckle out of that one) just for you, so you'll be the star attraction. And in case you've forgotten, your mother wants you here too. I'll see what I can do about the Mazda.

  Ha Ha,

Ive been dreaming about you a lot lately,I mean a whole lot.

  Sounds vaguely familiar.

Yeah you would think that would be the case, but it's the opposite. I think in Yogi's numbers, there is a little more to the story. Yogi has had to really step up his game on the offensive side of the ball, while playing about 39 mpg, so he's more prone to being a defensive liability. Having TB would help take some more of the offensive load off of Yogi and also help out everyone's defensive numbers.

Wouldn't that mean the better your team defense is the better you individual rating is?

Yes, that is what that means. Our defense was horrible this year, so basically everyone's ratings were high.

ok. So it's not really legitimate to compare yogi's Junior performance and Jordans freshman performance and say Jordan was a better defender.

It is legitimate to do so, because the team is performing better while that specific player is on the court. It isn't like the defense during Jordy's freshman year was anything special either. Yogi's defensive rating was one of the worst on the team this year.

Edit: Yogi's defensive rating was the worst on the team this year. Jeremiah April's was the best.

2nd Edit: Yogi's D Rating was 7.0 points higher than the team average.

Show's me that's it's an unimportant piece of information. Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but do you think anyone is going to watch our team and say yogi is our worst defender? Our worst starting defender? Our worst guard defender?

If Vic gets 3 straight steals and Cody a block and Cwat ties a guy up, Jordan just had 5 possessions with zero PPP, but none of it was because of JH's prowess.

Anyway. Our team defense did suck!

I wish we could say that Yogi was the lousiest of great defense, instead of the greatest of a lousy defense. It would mean a bit more.

As it is, they were all underwhelming on that side of the ledger, so no one should come away unscathed.

You make a great point. I'm not gonna argue that. It can be more useful in some situations than others. Usually a player's D rating will closely resemble that of the team. When it is so far skewed like yogi's, that's troubling.

This one's even better lol.

@SteveJones_CJ: Bryant says he hasn't heard from UK since January. IU recruiting him hardest. "They send me a ton of damn letters"

That almost sounds like he is getting aggravated by the amount of attention from IU. Hope not, but I can understand how it could wear a guy down after awhile.

When I see Rawle and others post pictures of recruiting letters, it's amazing how many Crimson colored envelopes you can see.

Over doing it?  Maybe.

How does it really come across?  Desperate?

I've wondered about this plenty over the last 2 years but this is the first time I've seen a recruit comment on it.

Rawle also comments on how awesome the stuff is. I really don't think there's anything to see here...
