Anthony Davis talks Cal

Recommended Posts

speaks volumes about the nature of that program.  well, a large stretch to call it a program.  as every basketball fan in the country knows, it's the most convenient place for high school prospects who are obvious nba talents and have no interest in being students, rather in getting paid asap, to spend an easy, fun year of high exposure.  that's proven by their current and former players' comments time after time after time.  hell, it's not even their fault; the nba eligibility system is broken and playing overseas isn't a viable option.  the slimy prick happily collects them and does his best to make them play together.  granted, he isn't bad at it.  has tremendous success nearly every year with the annual influx of elite talent.

to me, that's not college basketball or college athletics.  calipari is hardly a basketball coach, he's much more an entrepreneur.  but he's exposing the system and (now) playing within the limits.  winning is the name of the game and he's found a way to do it mightily, even if it is despicable.  if high school prospects could earn their jump straight to a development league or some capacity in the pro ranks, like every other pro league, you think he'd have this much success?  hell f'n no, not a chance.  he likely wouldn't even be coaching at the college level.  when he comes up in discussion, however, unfortunately have to give him his due for creating a process that works right now at said level.  the nba enables it.  and I hate the guy.  truly despise him.  he is so antithetical to college it's absurd and has proven himself to be a coward and awful human being.  I'd like nothing more than for him and fivestarhtm to meet in a desolate place.

I really have no interest in playing kentucky until he's gone and it's a college program again.
