rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 remember Rebel, IU makes below average offenses look like they are runnin' Harlem Globetrotter sets against us. I'd love to play against us. We give any open look the opposing team wants, cuz we just want to get the ball back fast and run up the court. It's unreal. Bear down, play some dang defense for once in your life. Get a STEAL then fast break. For the love of James Naismith! So true at times. I have watched the games closely and I have identified the 4 major types of defenses we play: Man to Man----Zones----Presses----and The Matador. Unfortunately---the only one we have perfected at this time is The Matador---which involves putting absolutely no pressure on the ball or shooters in the hopes they will miss because they are so wide open---it's reverse psychology. In The Matador---we don't stop the ball and if they drive down the lane we just wave them on through like the old Matador does the bull---and let them have uncontested lay-ups or dunks. The Matador defense has not been working out very well and we are now feverishly working on the other three types of defenses----I hope we get them perfected---QUICKLY!. rebelhoosier848891 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 let's see... root for... IU Evansville Notre Dame IUPUI Hanover? why not...it's Southern Indiana root against... Butler Purdue Alford Coached teams Rose Hullman (because it's an Engineering school) am I doing this right? You're getting warmer-----except I would root for Rose Hulman because those kids are very smart---smart enough to pick an engineering school---- not named Purdue! I actually rooted for Alford when he coached Manchester--SWMS---and at first at Iowa. I loved his playing days and his values and character and I was a Board Member for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and I got to meet him and we hired him to speak----then he lost my backing after the Pierce matter--he failed to do the Knight thing/right thing in my book---all for the sake of winning to try to save his job at Iowa---and followed that up by taking Recker after he left IU and used him against us---low class moves in my book for a former IU great---I had contacts at Iowa who I believe that described a different Alford then I thought I knew--I lost a lot of respect for him---and finally he really hasn't excelled as a coach---I put him on the same level as Crean--no better. It's not that I root against Alford's teams----I just don't think his coaching is any better then Crean's and imo Crean has better character and values. I don't like saying this about one of our own---but that's just how I feel. I still hope he succeeds but there are valid reasons why IU has steered clear of him in its coaching searches. I like Butler when they are not playing IU---even though their fanbase is cocky and arrogant and often act like they are college basketball elite when they haven't actually WON anything. Now that I have managed to offend everyone---I will end this post. :ninja: IUsafety 1 Quote
Hutch89 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 is Evansville supposed to win games this year? I mean...talking about Evansville basketball is like talking about the cold in January... is it cold tonight in Indiana? well...let me put it this way...if bears have claws and bras have boobs...then it must be cold in Indiana tonight... ohh and Evansville must be losing a heartbreaker too... Lol what?? I try to keep up with UE, and they are decent this year, will be better the next. They just beat #23 Northern Iowa not too long ago. Quote
BubbleKnuts Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 MSU and Iowa in a physical defensive battle. I have to admit, our int. defense has to be the worst in the big ten. Both these teams can chew you up in the paint. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote

Call me crazy----but we are just an AVERAGE defense away from being a top 20 team. You're not crazy man. Haha. But it scares me that statistically we have to hit 7 threes to be in the game. We need different weapons than Troy driving down the whole floor for a turnover in the paint, Yogi showing his ball handling skills and then passing whilst driving in the lane or James for three. TheWatShot Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So, did that tech Izzo got before halftime turn the tide? It's been so long since we had a coach who worked officials I've forgotten what it feels like to see something like that. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Hutch89 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Iowa played hard this game and still lost by double digits... At Iowa! Maybe MSU is much better than we all thought. Makes me feel (a very very little) less bad about our loss GloryDays and rebelhoosier848891 2 Quote
TheWatShot Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I have little doubt that MSU will be ranked and a solid tourney team by March. I wish I could say the same for us, but we know how that movie usually ends. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote

Was at an AAU tourney last spring with my daughter in Springfield, OH and looked to my right and there stood Travis Trice. The kid was so slight of build you wouldnt think he played major cbb.
