You're right Doc, not like Cal has a track record of taking his teams deep into the tournament every year. Hot streaks at the end of the season have been a fluke.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Both are great teams. It could go either way.

 

My guess is Vegas won't agree with your prediction and they don't have any skin in the game (besides predicting scores).

Hate Cal, don't think he's anymore than a slightly above average coach, and I think his system is awful for college basketball. But damn, hard to pick against his system come March when you look at his results.

Progressing in the tourney? Absolutely. Winning? Not really. I think they, hands down, had the best team with MIG and Davis. I don't see them winning it this season. Final Four is their ceiling but I could see an EE or Sweet 16 exit.

Yeah, I will argue that it's hard to knock someone for not consistently winning the championship. He has them in play (F4,E8) almost every year. Since he got there:

I'd call it a good hire not great. They'll be competitive but I don't think this will make them a legit NC contender.

Making a team go from 143 to 1 in offense means you can coach. He didnt have anyone new really. Maybe not NC contenders but definitely B1G contenders.

Why leave OK State for Illinois? Doesn't really seem like a big upgrade to me. He had a lot of talent returning and a good recruiting class coming in.
