Man, the B1G is just batty.

Illinois loses their 3rd game of a likely 5 in a row, which will put them at 8-7 and likely tied for around 8th in the B1G. Said it before, but it’s just crazy in this conference when you think about how the Illini were tied with Maryland for 1st place four days ago.

Also, hard to wrap your head around the fact that after tonight IU is only 2 games in the loss column out of 3rd place.

Extreme parity or extreme mediocrity? Not sure.

Good post. And ???? I would say recruiting and I think that’s the biggest part of it. But facing good coaches with better players is equally the answer.

I think Texas and Alabama were playing the game though, so it makes it a bit more of a conundrum.

You’re definitely playing better teams more often which is a difference. It’s not like those coaches didn’t have really good teams at VCU, Ohio or Dayton but it is different. That Ohio team with Armaan Bassett could clearly compete with high level P5 programs on any given night. And that’s really all that matters. Same with some of those VCU and Dayton teams under Smart and Miller. This years Dayton team is the same way. Would they be undefeated in the Big Ten? No. Doesn’t mean they aren’t a really good team though. And I know there are plenty of fans who try to bring mid majors down by asking how they’d do in a P5 conference but that’s just dumb talk. For those schools, it’s whether or not they can get to the NCAA and if they could last a couple games against some middling to high level P5 schools. Recruiting is much more difficult as well. You have a much larger range of players to go after at Dayton than you do at Indiana. Rankings and stars don’t mean as much at Dayton as they do at Indiana or Texas.

Some have been successful though like Beilein who had went to a Final Four at George Mason. Archie though, seems to be in the Smart and Groce party and not the Beilein.

John Beilein never coached at George Mason. He was at Richmond, West Virginia, and then Michigan. Jim larranaga was at George Mason.

He has been decent at Miami, but nothing spectacular.

but Illinois’ trash arse front runner fanbase can eat butts.

This. They are insufferable. There are some people around here, I didn't even know were College Basketball fans, much less Illinois fans. Now it's all they want to talk about. Talk about fair weather fans

It's so funny that I've seen almost every major team within 300 miles of here represented to varying degrees on cars and stuff, but I've barely seen anything Illinois-related until recently. Funny.

No one defends scum more than MSU fans. They outright deny that Izzo or Dantonio ever hid any sexual assault.

That whole program can get fired into the sun with everyone on board. Death penalty to all athletics. While we're at it, PSU for good measure.

Agreed. But don’t tell MSU fans that.

It's a "what would you do if this happened at IU" situation, and I know exactly what I'd do if there was even a whiff of not just molestation at one level, but systematic and calculated cover-ups and who knows what else like at MSU and PSU. I wouldn't give a dime to any athletics until I was sure every coach, assistant, doctor, floor mopper, and administrator was gone across the board from volleyball to basketball to softball.

I've also never met an MSU fan I liked, so there's that.

I couldn’t support IU athletics. I’d be going somewhere else with my time.
