There are a number of areas where IU is lacking. The more I watch college ball this season the more obvious the gap.

- Alpha leader
- Low post scorer
- Lead guard
- Lockdown defender
- High bball IQ glue guy

There are a lot of other areas we are deficient. You won't find many teams that have all but your good to great have most.


Alpha leader and lead guard is the void Yogi left. Low post scorer needs to become Davis. Lockdown defender and high ball IQ glue guy I'll argue is 100% Juwan Morgan.

RoJo is a great supporting guard, but I think unfortunately a lot of our struggles are on Blackmon being such a liability on defense that you can't trust him on the floor late in a close game, and Crean for not having a true ball handler. He did go and get Newkirk, but he hasn't been good enough to replace Yogi's ability to facilitate the offense, which isn't exactly a surprising statement.

Eh, I'd argue OG is way closer to being the lock down defender just because of his physical tools are all there. Whether he can learn to bring it night in, night out is the question.

Fair, I think Morgan has been more consistent, but I get why OG would be considered over Morgan.

There's a lot of potential in our roster that could develop into roles but they're not there yet.

Davis can be that go to low post presence.

Green can be that lead guard.

OG can be a lockdown defender

Morgan can be that high bball IQ player

The problem I see is these players haven't been put in these positions enough and aren't at the level we need to win big.

That's the problem with this position-less, roll-less, what ever you call it, besides something that works basketball. Sorry but not having established positions leads to these chaotic stretches where the players don't know what's going on, the fans are pulling their hair out, the announcers are puzzled, and the coach says way to play. It is absolutely ok for each player to be able to play any position on the court, but that should only come after they understand what role in which they should be. Bryant needs a come to Jesus moment and understand that he is 6'10" and his but belongs within 10 feet of the basket a majority of the time and not to post up above the free-throw line. I have seen him do this a few times and there is usually only one result a TO. Not just singling TB out, just the first to come to mind, there are several that need to play to their strengths and stop trying to be something that they are not.

I've been calling for this for awhile. I'm glad the players are developing skills outside of their skill set when they arrive at IU. However, the coach is paid to win games at Indiana. The players need to sharpen their current skills that fit within the team concept. Once that's at a high level then add something more to your game but don't lose what you had and go back to it when you need it.
