Anyone who claims they saw this coming is lying. Sure we heard all about how Crean can't coach and how Hanner didn't get enough suspension. But no one predicted he had lost the locker room like this. Not one person

Basketball4IU made this point when they started posting. It was suggested that the inconsistent discipline for some who failed drug tests was a problem. Further they pointed to the walk ons leaving as an indicator that there was trouble on the team.

Basketball4IU kind of came out of no where so it might have been hard to believe him but many simply dismissed him because some
Of the initial posts focused on walk ons. There were many who discounted this simply because they were walk ons.

What would be the benefit of firing Crean now?

Will discipline and behavior improve?

Will the product be more attractive to the next coach?

I think Crean has lost too many supporters to continue into next year but I worry the team will implode further if he is removed now. Let him run things for the year. Make the contacts with the potential candidates and take time with the change.

Unless you have sources this is just an assumption. No one with credibility has said it's happening for sure.

That's pretty much 100% of the news that you're going to get on an internet message board.  If it's verified and being stated by enough people with credibility, you'd be seeing it on official media outlets.  You choose whether or not to believe the source here, but don't expect anonymous internet message board posters to give you all of their credentials and connections.

I understand that, those with cred on the board haven't definitively stated what is happening. Waiting for word from those in the know haha.

Clearly you're connected to the players and your cred has now been established. Congrats

I think you're looking at a lost season either way, unfortunately.  You've either got an interim coach or what amounts to a lame duck coach who has already been told that he's losing his job at the end of the season unless he wins way more games than most people think is possible.

The board is NOT meeting tonight.  When the board meets, that is public information and anyone can get copies of their minutes from those meetings.

Yes -- you have to work around Open Door laws.

I think timing is key on this, if they fire him in the next two days (which won't happen imo) it will only make matters much worse.

If after the season they fire him I think it would be a little better, but either way when a head coach is fired it usually never turns out well lol!

I probably blew you off too. No one wants to hear negative stuff from an anonymous source. Too many trolls to sift to to believe real posters. Thanks for coming to share and sticking around though.

I'm always skeptical of insiders still though. Haha.

But there's a difference in what can happen in the strategies. Waiting and having an orderly transition when we've already selected a new coach means we're less likely to lose as many players and recruits. Arm everyone with waivers and uncertainty in November and I doubt anyone will remain for 2015.
