Ok, whats our odds here? Seem to be several top schools in the mix.


Seems to be some positive IU chatter here regarding a visit.

He just visted Iowa St. and I read it went well. But Simpson was recruited by Hoiberg and ISU just doesn't carry the same weight anymore. Miami is getting a visit, but geographically, both Miami and Isu are a bit of a haul and XS seems to have a pretty solid family life. Purdue took a commitment in Carsen Edwards at PG and XS postponed his visit and has yet to reschedule. MSU showed some interest but are the overwhelming favorite for borderline 5 star PG in Cassius Winston.

IU getting XS and his Dad on campus and I think they have a good shot from there on out. It's a drive-able visit, so look for IU to push pretty hard for it.

Alex B. reports Wisky has offered and Simpson's coach tweeted:  "Proud to say X has received an offer from Wisconsin.  Bo Ryan is a well respected coach in this game.  So that means a lot." 

 

I'm getting paranoia after the last 24 hours and not sure if that's a dig at CTC or simply a heartfelt comment from the coach.

Let me help; it's a statement of fact about a coach and literally has nothing to do with CTC or any of the other coaches who have offered Xavier Simpson.

are we planning on newkirk to be our starter for the next two years? I hope not. He has been injured and didn't even start at Pitt when he was healthy. Need a stud PG and Newkirk is not it


I'm not sure what the plan is. I think XS stopped considering IU after that so I'd expect IU to keep looking for options in '16. Problem with 16 is there aren't a ton of good 1's imo, so Newkirk may be the stop gap until ''17. True freshmen starting PG's scare me, I know there are some exceptions but that is generally 5 star kids...not XS.
