I 'liked' your post because everything you said is true.

But is it so wrong to really hope that Edey is a giant bust and lumbers back to Canada, while Trayce becomes all-world and starts hitting four three-pointers a game? Is that SO wrong?

And given that hope, it is so nice to point out that Edey fouled out in 15 minutes in his first NBA game.

You do what you want. Personally, I'm an Edey fan. He succeeds, and maybe the game starts to find a middle ground between just chucking 3s and having a center that's great on the block. I can't stand any more shot fake, dribble to the FT line jumpers by Embiid anymore. I want some physically dominant centers. Not a bunch that believe they are CP3.

That is improvement. Bigger story is Haliburton absolutely sucking to start the year.

Yeah what the hell is up with that?  He was unplayable on the Olympic team too.

He's not built for the Olympics. He makes a great benchwarmer there. He's been terrible since his injury last year. I'm not a fan of his style of plays anyways. It's very Ball Is Life, summer AAU highlights. He's a great playmaker but a terrible defender and his shooting has been baaadd. Now sitting 1-16 to start.

Edey has improved! Instead of 6 fouls in 15 minutes, tonight he’s committed 4 fouls in 16 minutes.

Memphis was the original NBA analytics org so I’m sure their Edey profile fits where they’re going, but, man, I don’t know how his defense holds up. Every team’s got 3-4 guys who can do to him what JHS did. And he’s gonna put so much pressure on the tag defender. I just don’t see how you scheme around it.

You have Jaren Jackson as a weak side defender.

Statmuse says it's Darryl Dawkins in 83-84. 386 fouls on the season. Played in 81 games averaging almost 30 mpg.

Whoa. That’s about five fouls per full NBA game time for Dawkins, whereas so far Edey is only averaging… 13 fouls per full game time.

At least the Grizzlies are winning. They’re 2-1.

And Edey has a plus minus of -28.

Remember when Edey would play 35+ minutes in college games and get zero fouls, and we were told it was because he was too smart to foul? Good times.

And when he was just taking sooo much physical abuse from defenders who couldn't guard him? Sorry big fella. Nobody is going to beg for mercy for a 7'4" human in the NBA.

Every young player with NBA aspirations needs these words etched on to their brains. All these guys are great athletes. It’s skill development and work ethic, skill development and work ethic. Skill development and work ethic.

Filed under: Well That Freakin’ Sucks

It looks like Isaiah Jackson may have tore his achilles last night, which would make the second Pacers bench big in the last ~10 days to do so.

Nesmith also had a pretty nasty looking ankle injury last night.
