Favorite IUBB team of all time

Recommended Posts

I think this is kind of an, how old are you thread? Haha.

If you are old enough 75-76 is your favorite.

If not 87 is the fav.

If not 2002 is the fav.

If not 2013 is the fav.

Kind of cool really, everyone has an team from their generation to cling to.

Mine was 2002 as I was a Jr in Btown. Boy, what memories!!!!!!!!!!!!

92-93 team hands down. That team was as good as any team at IU except for the 74-76 years. Explosive. And being an Evansville native, watching our guy Calbert own the Big Ten was awesome.

I still remember Mike Blake reporting " late news coming out of Bloomington" that Henderson had hurt his knee. Heartbreaking.

The 2002 team when we were in the finals too bad we didn't have a healthy Coverdale we would have won that game.

2002 team was also my favorite team. A great bunch of athletes. Heck if only we could get a post player like Jeff Newtown on this years team!! Apart from a healthy Coverdale, if Haston would've stayed instead of leaving for the draft, we would've won no doubt

We have had some near misses and our share of injuries that derailed likely titles.

Liked your post Buck Naked----I was on campus on the time and when we heard about the Henderson injury----we knew a title was unlikely.  That team and Henderson rebounded and gave it a heck of a ride!

Mike Blake was and is a first class sports/news reporter too!

Good points Devil---

Anyone remember---what was Moye ranked when we recruited him?

He's one of those guys that seemed undersized for where and the way we played him---but he was a warrior and made up for it!

Players like Moye would always have a spot on the team if I were the Coach!

I think Moye was actually a pretty highly ranked kid. I didn't look it up, but I remember him being highly thought of.

I will have to say my favorite would be 81.Lost nine games and had Knight pulling his hair out.

I remember early in the year at Carolina and he benched Isiah for the rest of the game because he was out of control and we lost. But a lesson was taught.

Had some hard headed kids on that team including Ray Tolbert.Bobby really had to coach that team but by tourney time they were a steamroller. I remember them putting on a clinic against a very good Maryland team with Buck Williams and Albert King. They were scary good at the end of the year.

Thanks a lot OliviaPope40, I have too much I need to do today. But I just watched that game for the thousandth time, and I cheered when that go-ahead basket went in as though the outcome was in question.

Some thoughts I had while watching:

1) Oh my God, I LOVE Indiana basketball.

2) Coach Jackson has certainly changed the Hoosier bball bodies. Thank you sir.

3) Coach Crean: Please sit our current team down and show them the entirety of this game. If that doesn't fire them up for the season, I don't know what will. This game was won by that IU team through tenacity and pride for their school/team.

4) After watching that game I'm really ready for this season to start. I believe in our current team and am looking forward to watching them play.

Go HOOSIERS!
