rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Also---remember Lyle has a great relationship with Blackmon. I just can't see him coming in at semester and taking a backseat to our current guards. Don't see how that work out very well. I still vote no but this is interesting stuff! Quote
HoosierD Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I brought this up about a month ago---just reading tea leaves here---but by sending staff to see Kasongo recently and still looking at Lyle---I am not even sure we are done with 2014 recruiting yet. They could come at semester break. Don't ask me where the scholly comes from but remember Zags said IU was willing to take both Holt and Kasongo if they would come even though we only had one scholly left at the time.. I am betting Crean has a tentative scholly situation worked out with one of our current recruits----only thing that makes sense to me. Stay tuned Hoosier Nation this is about to get interesting! But there are no "recruits" on the team, they are called scholarship players now. Unless he would just give someone the boot, it's just not possible at semester break. rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Hoosier Sports Live's blog site is making claims it is also hearing strange recruiting news about IU as well and making comments about "have you ever dated a girl who is now with another guy and you just can't let her go---that's IUBBall recruiting these days"-----I don't know who they are referring to but it could be Lyle or Kasongo. Stay tuned. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I agree HoosierD---there would have to be some pre-arranged agreement or plan in place with one or more of our current recruits/players for this to make sense. That's something we are not privy to unless it occurs. Quote

Hoosier Sport's situation sounds more like Eron Harris or Blueitt. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Yeah or Hovadipo----I was also thinking of Jalen Coleman---a top guard----honor student---involved in community service---interested in busiess school---from Indiana----and no Indiana player has gone to Illinois in 30 years. If his verbal is oral only and not in writing--- it is not binding yet, correct? Anybody got any info? He doesn't seem like an Illinois player to me---seems like an IU player! Don't know if Illinois could stand being jilted at the altar once again! AKA----Eric Gordon! LazOffTheBench 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 All that being said----Hovadipo----Blueitt or Harris would be awesome too! I'd prefer Blueitt! The roller coaster that is IU recruiting-----continues! Kepner and Hovadipo 2 Quote

If we could flip him, just wow. Do you realize how much crap I could talk to all of my Illinois friends? That would be glorious. I can only hope that's happening lol. rebelhoosier848891, Walking Boot of Doom and LazOffTheBench 3 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I figured you would like that one Hovadipo----that would give you a lot of gas to pour on that anti-Illini fire! I was trying to remember if there was a big that we missed out on for next year that we may still be trying to pull in? LazOffTheBench Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Would love to have Jalen Coleman at IU. But JaQuan Lyle? No. No. NO. Not ever. Really hope JaQuan gets his head on straight but let him do it somewhere other than IU. rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Right now---with you on that one Laz! Would be hilarious if it was Coleman! LazOffTheBench 1 Quote
Kepner Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 If it was Blueitt, that would be awesome. That kid could start on this team. Great player LazOffTheBench and rebelhoosier848891 2 Quote

rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 It may be someone we're not even thinking about----but it is fun to speculate! If it is Coleman----the Illini Boards would go into full meltdown mold and the rivalry would be better than ever! Quote
NoahW35 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Would have to assume Missouri gets in on this, right? Quote

Don't know if Illinois could stand being jilted at the altar once again! AKA----Eric Gordon! While a verbal agreement is non binding and can actually be rescinded at any time between both the school and player, college basketball has a gentlemen's agreement that other schools should no longer still recruit these players. It is totally unlike football where there is no such agreement and kids are recruited right up til signing day. Of course a gentlemens agreement in this day and age is becoming much less of a factor considering the Eric Gordon recruitment, Cal and Trey Lyles, and the instagram photo of all the letters JB2 was receiving long after he committed. Supposedly the coaches association were supposed to police this activity and try to black ball etc... those coaches that broke this agreement. I don't know the associations position on it now other than it probably doesn't like it but can't do anything about it. In other words, it doesn't exist anymore since the ones breaking it are getting the players. Quote
rebelhoosier848891 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Good points schoosier----and sometimes it's the player that changes his mind and reaches out to the school! Quote
BGleas Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Remember when Terrance Jones held a press conference and committed to Washington, and then Cal literally called him while Jones was still at the press conference and flipped him to UK? rebelhoosier848891 1 Quote
