Hoosier Hysteria---3 Point Contest

Recommended Posts

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Rob Johnson shoot.  He jumps extremely high in the air, and his right leg was was higher than his left leg when he was coming down, it almost looked like he was not squared up.  He shot it ok, however he didn't even get thru all of his balls during the shootout before time expired, so he's got a long stroke compared to the other players.  At his size he might have to clean that up a little bit and get a quicker release.

Hard to believe he's a successful shooter with such strange mechanics.I totally agree with your assessment.

I bet the staff is aware of and will try to tweak it a bit.

Sometimes shooters have mechanics that just work for them.  I wouldn't mess with his unless he has problems getting his shot off when games actually start, especially against the better teams.

I wouldn't change anything bc I thought his hands looked good and the ball comes out smooth and has good arch. I don't know that he will ever have problems getting his shot off but he will never be good in a 3 pt competition.

Do you guys really think all of the great shooters have kept their jump shot unchanged since the time they were 18 years old?  I'm not saying that Robert should completely change his jumper, but to expect him not to be coached on things such as squaring up or releasing it quicker or getting more arc on his shot is not out of the question for me.

So bringing up a kid that was a 2 time HIGH SCHOOL NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR as the best player in Illinois HIGH SCHOOL history does not support a dissuasion on the best HIGH SCHOOL player ever in that state????????

The discussion was about whether she's is in discussion as one of the best in the state. First off she is ONE of the best. Plain and simple. Stats dont lie. She may not be the best but she is without a doubt one of the best. You keep bringing up what the other two did after hs for the most part, and in your last post you mentioned where she was ranked nationally in her class. Neither have a thing to do with the discussion yet you keep trying to pass them off as if they matter.

RoJo is undoubtedly a good shooter.  However, in the limited video and game footage I have seen---he seems to be more of a streaky shooter--- but when he is on I could see how it could be hard to defend against his shot because of his elevation.

He does so many other things in addition to shooting that I think we will really enjoy watching his development!

I agree with the streaky part.

I saw him in the Derby classic last spring and he didn't hit any of those shots. It never hurts to look at mechanics  and try and  see if there's a glitch that can be taken out.I'm not saying completely change his shot because he is a good shooter but he could be a great shooter.Troys a great jumper should he not try and jump higher?

What about my last post had anything to do with what Parker did after high school?  In HS she was the best player in the country 2 times.

All I am saying by stating that TB is the best or one of the best HS players in Illinois HS history you mention her in the same breath as some of the best ever, those are unfair comparisons for ANYONE, esp one that is walking into a very deep and talented backcourt where the top 4 kids at those spots are back and and where another one of our top recruits plays.

Just trying to temper the expectations that many may have about TB

Not really sure anyone here needs someone to temper their expectations for them.

I said previous posts. You've done it multiple times though.

It's got nothing to do with expectations or anything else you're saying. It's the fact we are giving her credit for being one of the best players in her states history. What she does from here on out won't change what she's already done.
