This should be fun to criticize the team even before the season starts and everybody will be saying get rid of Crean. I just hope this place doesn't get hectic and goes crazy but it will happen either way.

That challenge is questionable, but I will try. I have no insider help but will question everyone that may have answers. No guarantees but a BTB try is what I will do. Wish me luck.

optimistic take:

Hope IU does well against those Canadian teams, and it would be really scary if we lost all of them ha ha.  But, (glass half full)... win or lose at these games will bring some MUCH needed real game experience for the young squad. If we were to struggle, i'd at least try to stay optimistic that our guys and Crean will have a much better sense of what type of team we have and can make adjustments during the next couple months before the regular season starts. Hopefully getting a lot of the weaknesses and inefficiencies figured out before they would affect our overall record.

 

Also, I think these games are going to have the biggest impact for both our incoming Freshman and for Crean.  good wins could result in more confidence, bad losses could result in harder work until the season begins.

IUBB added Grand Canyon University to the non-conference schedule. They will face off in Bloomington on Dec 13.

GCU is coached by former Phoenix Suns guard Dan Majerle. He and Crean both went to CMU, so that probably played a role in getting them together.

Not a huge opponent, but we have a tougher non-conf schedule this year so this is fine. Need a couple easy ones in there.

Cue the "another non-conference cupcake that will hurt our RPI" rants that will turn in to a Crean discussion. Let me settle you down first. Kentucky is playing them as well and we are playing Butler, SMU, Louisville, Piit, and Georgetown. Not to mention our BIG schedule. It's just a confidence game.
