Larry Brown. But I wouldn't limit it to best NCAA coach, I'd say he is one of the best basketball coaches period when you look at his entire resume. The obvious con here is that he never stays in one place long but man, he has taken on many challenging coaching jobs and performed turnarounds just about anywhere under the sun.

I always see people say Few and I have never understood it. Can someone tell me why Few is always high on peoples lists?

Here's my take.

Basketball like most sports and probably more so is driven by INDIVIDUAL talent. Gonzaga is the Boise St of College BB. They take mid-level talent and perform like a top level team, year in and year out. It is much easier to take a UNC, IU, Kansas job and recruit and win, than to take a mid major team and compete with the big boys. I realize they haven't had the greatest post season success and TO ME that is where Brad Stevens separated himself from Few, but I view Few much like I do Stevens.

I see that argument, however, Few's most successful seasons have been with players like Adam "Crazy Stash" Morrison and Kelly "Long hair, Don't Care" Olynyk. Both of whom were All American's.

Again I see your argument and that is a strong one. Few just never beats ranked teams (0-2 last year) and does arguably under performs in the post season.

They were unknowns in the recruiting world and turned out to be All-Americans. That is an important distinction. He gets unrecruited, unknown players to perform well in his system and make them a ranked team year in and year out. Will he ever win the whole thing, likely not, but he has built a nice program out there and he has done it without the blue chip high school talent.

1. Izzo

2. Cal

3. Boeheim

4. Coach K

5. John Beilein

How do you rationalize this list in that order? Whether you look at it recently or historically, Coach K has done more than anyone on that list. More NCAA titles than all of them combined and has won one more recently than all but Cal. Furthermore, he has had a longevity and consistency that is unmatched by any of the. #1 recruiting class this year as well as coaching the USA national team...

How is he #4?

Coach K runs a clean program ever since he's been there. 4 championships, and year in year out #1 recruiting class. He's the best. (Still active)

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Not sure Duke is clean. Cleaner than most but not likely clean.

Morrison and Olynyk were great players, and I agree that Few is a very good coach, but he hasn't done well against the very best in college basketball. Until then, he's just a coach who makes a mid-major look like a contender, but ultimately falls.
