The term "clutch" is over used. If you look at all players stats in so called clutch situations then we wouldn't call anyone clutch ever again.

This.  "Clutch" isn't a repeatable skill, or really even a skill at all.  It's just the odds biting you in the butt at a bad time but you're not going to succeed or fail because of some mythological factor.

I have to disagree here. "Clutch" refers to ones ability to perform when the internal and external pressures exceed "normal" levels. Generally it's an end of game thing. Or a playoff thing. Or a game 7 thing. Stress can do crazy things to people and it has more extreme affects for some. The nervousness can completely cause you to lose "touch" or sensation. It is a real phenomenon. If you've played sports you've probably experienced it before. I've had to take penalty shots in Hockey in games that go to shootout. The final shooter. I could barely feel my feet or my hands. Sympathetic Nervous System. Fight or Flight response. Some people handle the nervous energy better than others.

Again, look at Derek Jeter.  "Clutch" is literally part of his nickname and legend, yet he has failed in big spots several times and his playoffs numbers are practically identical to his regular season numbers.  These clutch situations are always too small of a sample size to draw any meaningful conclusions from.

Baseball is a non fitting comparison. A Great batter hits .333333. Clutch would indicate he hits at least .33333 and likely better in high stress situations. Clutch wouldn't indicate he bats 1.000.

Take FTs. If a guy shoots 90%. Then a clutch free throw shooter should shoot over 90% in those High Stress environments. It doesn't say he won't miss, it says that miss should be less likely than normal.

Clutch doesn't mean you don't fail it means you raise your play or percentage in times of stress.

Does Hulls raise his play in times of stress? I am sure if we looked at free throw percentage for hulls in first half vs. 1 minute left we would find our answer.

I think I'm now officially milking the clock more than you ;)

From Wikipedia:

A clutch of eggs refers to all the eggs produced by birds, amphibians, or reptiles, often at a single time, particularly those laid in a nest.

In birds, destruction of a clutch by predators (or removal by humans, for example the California Condor breeding program) results in double-clutching. The technique is used to double the production of a species' eggs, in the California Condor case, specifically to increase population size. The act of putting one's hand in a nest to remove eggs is known as "dipping the clutch".

Lol, it's a beautiful Friday, going to friend's house on the lake for bbq and drinks (has a bar built into his lake house) tonight,  I sell insurance, and it's a slow day.  I can't think of any better reasons to hijack a thread into something meaningless!

Come on, we all know this is censored.  Any definition of "clutch" that doesn't include a transmission is ignoring a lot of the truth.
