Its not really you. It's because of years of bizarre ramblings from people on various IU boards. And I don't particularly like Alford because of the pierce situation and how he treated a lot of people at Iowa.

The Bucks will win an NBA Championship before that happens. The Cubs will win a world series against the Toronto Blue Jays before that happens. There's a better chance that Joe Montana comes out of retirement and leads the Jaguars to a Superbowl. Holy hell. We have to drop this crap. It's not happening. Let. It. Go.

Haha I should. But to constantly read the same comments just gets so old. "Crean isn't an Xs and Os coach. We need Brad Stevens. Bob Knight would have done this..." We get it. You and 500,000 posters before you have said the same thing.

Do you know Stevens? Or are you just saying this bc it's what you believe bc you think Crean will turn it around? From what I understand the money is there for the buyout for Crean and for the #1 option, IF needed

If you thought the Calipari deal was heinous, wait until you see what we would have to pay a coach just coming out of the NBA. Here's another reason: I say Crean has this season and next season to prove himself. This season to develop and the season after to deliver. If he does, we don't get a replacement. If he doesn't, we will need someone before Stevens' contract is up. Now, let's say we buy Crean out of his deal. That is not going to leave us with the kind of money to sign Stevens. It's a fantasy wrapped around the Butler bandwagon everyone jumped on. He's a good coach. He's not coming here

He did better than I thought he would given how the UCLA fan base is. The problem that UCLA fans have is comparing a new coach to that of John Wooden.

That part of the situation is dependent on what the boosters pony up though.  It isn't like these transactions would be happening directly out of the pocketbook of Fred Glass.  It is not coming directly out of the athletic department revenues or budget.  If the big money boosters really want to make it happen, it could happen.  Don't get me wrong, I think a scenario where IU actually fires Crean and hires Stevens is not likely but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand simply due to the money.  I just don't think the timing is going to line up that way.

Fair or not, that's how it goes.  David Robertson has been one of the league's best relief pitchers the last few years, but when he took over as closer of the Yankees he was instantly held to a standard set by the greatest relief pitcher in baseball history just the same as the next shortstop will be compared to the standard set by Derek Jeter.  In NASCAR you're measured against a standard set by the likes of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Richard Petty.

Interesting thread. Alford is an Indiana legend and would have had grI just cant believe how hard we have fallen since the loss to Syracuse in the tourney. We go to being number 1 in the country for the majority of the year to a disapointing loss in the sweet 16, then barely going above .500 last year and now we cant even give away schollies in the 2014 and 2015 classes.

It's just kind of unbelievable. Coach Crean had better get the program back....and it would probably be a real good idea if be did it SOON.eat success here imho. Should have hired he or Matta years ago.

As for Stevens, it will be interesting to see what happens with him next season with the Celtics and how things go with our Hoosiers.

Im not sure what happened, thats not what I intended to post. I actually saw my post sfter i submitted it and it was not the previously pasted one. Weird.

What I intended was that Alford is an Indiana legend and that he would have done well here imho. We should have hired he or Matta years ago.

As for Stevens, it will interesting to see how the Celtics and our Hoosiers do next season. We are his dream job.

Uhh. That's not true at all...Stevens said that IU WAS his dream job after his father took him to the game that Bob Knight infamously threw the chair...he went on to say that he mimicked Knight whenever he could, but eventually found his own way of coaching.
