I don't mind caramelization, but I just prefer oil, seasoning salt, and fry them up on high heat. Love them that way.

Tried mixing my own pattie meat today.  Started with a base of equal amounts of ground beef and pork, then added onion and some Kroger brand hickey smoked BBQ sauce.  Haven't fixed them yet so I don't know how good they are.

Sauteed onions and a toasted bun is the way to go.

Sounds amazing. Let me know how it goes. I made Montreal steak seasoned burgers again for the family. Love having at least some pink in the burger, but have some done as well.

I grill all the time, steak, pork loin, chicken, shrimp. I have two recipes that all my friends and family always compliment me on. They are not original recipes by any means, just things I have learned about over the years.

A-1 Burger: I just put some Lawry's Seasoning Salt on the burgers right before I put them on the grill

Let the burgers cook until they are about 2 minutes from being done, then put about a spoonful of A-1 sauce on each             side of the patty.

Put a slice of Swiss cheese on just before the burger is done. ( Sometimes I make grilled sliced mushrooms also)

Rumaki: Very easy snack food. Just get bacon, whole water chestnuts( it is by all the oriental stuff at the grocery store) and bbq sauce. Wrap said water chestnuts in bacon, cover in bbq sauce then put them in tin foil and grill them for about 45 to an hour. (you're Welcome)

I doubt I grill burgers this week because I did Sunday, but I will be trying some sort of A-1 burger. The wife loves feta cheese, so I may try mixing that in the meat before patting the hamburger.

I am grilling chicken tonight. Only problem is I didn't have time this morning to marinate it in w-sauce. I will come up with something delicious thou.

Update:  That experiment was a definite success, really good.  Could've used some more BBQ flavor though, so I spread some on top of the burger when I put it on a bun.  Also topped it with some nacho cheese dip I got from a local grocer, wasn't sure how the nacho cheese/hickory smoke BBQ would mix but it was a really good flavor.

Next experiment may be the equal parts beef/pork, mixed with onion and worcestershire and I'm thinking either rosemary or cilantro.

Great to hear it was a success. Sounded great. It's suppose to rain this week here in stl, so I won't be grilling. Heading to Memphis on Friday for a wedding, then have 4 games next week. Will try to get the grill out when I can.

Grilled brats and these gourmet chicken sausages from Sams. Nothing special. I will be doing burgers and bbq chicken on the grill this week as well, Can't wait.

Not a cherry fan. The wife and I just picked up two nice new York strip steaks. Will do those probably Friday. Thinking about trying some form of bacon-wrapped chicken on the grill or something. Thought it sounded good lol

Tried the Italian loaf pizza today, turned out pretty good.  Cut the loaf in half a few times, it was a good sized loaf so it made 8 halves.  Sauteed some sweet onion in extra virgin olive oil then added some canned pizza sauce to mix together, I used a little under half an onion with 15 oz sauce and the taste seemed kind of strong at first (and I like onions enough to eat just a raw onion, and I have done so) but after you put it together it's fine.  Took a few halves of the bread and spread a couple tablespoons of the sauce one each, then topped with pepperoni and bacon crumbles (I just used the Hormel bacon crumbles you can get near the pizza toppings) and some mozzarella cheese and sprinkled a little oregano on top.  Bake on 400 for about 13 minutes and it's ready.  There was a flavor that was a little strong so I think it could've used a little more cheese or a little less oregano.

Plus, there's probably enough toppings/sauce/bread for another meal.  Fairly cheap to make, you can control the flavors, and you can get multiple meals.  Win, win, win.

BTW, should we start a general cooking thread for stuff like this or is it fine to just post it here?

Making bbq grilled chicken tonight. It was a last minute switch because the wife had burgers for lunch, so that hurt our plans. Chicken is going going to marinate for an hour. I will be putting on more bbq sauce as I grill it though to help out.

Also going to try and grill green peppers. First time ever doing it. They are in big slices. May put salt and pepper on them and see what happens.
