Next Season will be a Success If....

Recommended Posts

If Tom Crean let's somebody else coach! lol.. just kidding. I couldn't resist. It will be successful if Hanner and Davis make big jumps and be the players we need them to be. Our backcourt will be elite so it really depends on our post play.

It will be a success if the freshmen (mainly RJ and JBJ) can make the impact that we all expect them to. If they can be good shooters, it will truly make our backcourt elite. Then, Hanner, April, and Davis need to just be big bodies and score a few points a game, but play solid defense and rebound.

If....Jimbo Buckets is who we think he is. Yogi continues to improve upon what was a great 13-14 season. Stan and Troy make progress on their respective faults (jump shooting, ball control, etc.). Hanner gets to the point where we can rely on him to defend the basket consistently plus bring in some offensive rebounds from the bombs being dropped from everywhere on the court. Put all of that together and we look at 18-22 wins and a tournament berth where, as we all know, good guard play makes magic happen. I would consider getting to the tournament successful and advancing a few rounds overachieving.

If the team learns to effectively communicate with one another, can mentally withstand being down at any point in the game and be able to bounce back from it, and each member comes out with the will and drive to win. (And gets more support from their fan base instead of bashing... )

If we come together as a team, rather than fall apart and turn the ball over. Get hungry. This is IU Basketball. If you're not psyched to be on the floor, get off and transfer. Thank you Jeremy and AE for doing that. Maybe with them gone our locker room will improve. We need to live and die by the 3. Yogi needs to be a leader. Someone needs to be our Cwat, Victor, Sheehey. Take a stand. Aren't you guys sick of losing?

I'll share my benchmarks for next season:

- Yogi demands the respect and attention of the other players. Leads us to victory
- JBJ, RJ, MH shoot the lights out. All season.
- entire team embraces a FAST pace, crash the boards, in your face attitude that we will run the other team out of the gym.
- Devin Davis and Hanner challenge each other to see who can acquire the most rebounds. Attacks the glass with a. Vengeance.
- CLOSE OUT GAMES.
- Make it to Saturday of Big Ten Tournament
- Make it to the weekend of March Madness

Most importantly, I want to see the team have fun again. When Crean's "offense" is performing how it should, the players should be having fun. Rewatch the beginning of two seasons ago vs North Carolina. It's a fun offense for players to play in and if they aren't having fun/ being creative we will be in trouble.

Side Note: JBJ will take Big Ten Freshman of the Year and will average 14+.

If our front court can do enough to keep the opponent honest on defense allowing our backcourt to do what we know it is capable of. Yogi also needs to get back to being a major assist PG now that we have viable shooting threats. Said shooters also need to make shots. Troy and Stan are my wildcards who I believe can take next season above our expectations.

Next season will be a success if no team member is arrested.

Although I see the humor in it I'm hoping for quite a bit more than that. That should be somewhere in the minimum standards paragraph.

If coach makes them play team ball. No more dirving on multiple defenders and only passing as a last resort. They may not win as much as everybody wants, but at least it will lay the foundation for a good future. Yogi's senior year is when we should be able to make a serious run at the NCAA's.

Never had too much of a problem with AE, don't see how he was a detriment to the locker room

(Fill in the blank for what needs to happen next year for you to consider it a successful year) 2 things#1 the players need to get an education  and #2  play basketball  and play with pride and act like they want to win
