IU Hoosier41

Next Season will be a Success If....

Jetpack.......that's the old Tony Hinkle basketball theory. Lol

Step one isn't even necessary technically. We can put the ball through the hoop fewer times than the opposing team so long as the necessary percentage of them take place behind the three-point-arc. But, I didn't want to complicate things with a big formula.

We move around on offense instead of standing around like screens for shooters and more passing less dribbling. Fewer turnovers and better defense oh last but not least make yogi an assist man instead of a scorer

if more than 50% of posters on this websight don't 187 themselves into Lake Monroe after a season

that includes the following...

home loss(es)

lower than 6th in the B1G

<3 off season transfers

<1 assistant coaching transfers

<1 assistant to the secretary of weight trainers quits

>2 4star commits by this time next year

<5 viable Tom Crean threads created in any 12 month period

- use screens to get our shooters open shots, instead of making them rely on getting open themselves and taking contested shots
- someone emerges to defend the post and rebound
- utilize our strengths, speed, quickness & shooting, to set and control the tempo during games
- limit turnovers
- develop a scrappy pressuring defense

Thank you god someone else believes in screens on here!!!
James jr and rob have all the shooting capability we need now we just need yogi to assist some to set screens and someone to be a beast like rodman on the boards

If someone, anyone, can prove to be a leader. Out of this bunch? Not likely

YOGI? maybe...   He's shown us once already that he can make a huge leap in skill and leadership over the offseason. Let's hope he does the same this season.  If he develops like he did from fresh to soph season, we could have one of the best PGs in the B1G.

No doubt Yogi showed he can step up and take over games. He improved greatly. But did he show leadership? Did anyone? That team fell apart. It was an epic collapse. Leaders emerge in tough times. No one did that last year. Just because a player can take over a game out of pure necessity does not make them a leader. With all of these off court issues, I hope he does some serious soul searching or we are up crap creek without a paddle. Big time

Big time[/quote] What about some of those big games, like Wisconsin, that we won? I'd say those are tough times where Yogi and others showed leadership. The star of the team was a freshman. Two other starters were freshman. The oldest member of the team was brand new. We had a few players not buying in. I'd say that's a pretty overwhelming situation for a second year player to step up into and take over. Yogi made vast improvements in his game and leadership on the floor. I can't wait to see the improvements he makes this off season and how he will preform with a more cohesive and experienced team.

If we are talking about leadership, let's look at all games. Northwestern and PSU at home. Those games were lost because no one stepped up and got everyone's head on straight. Blame it on Crean, Yogi, Will whomever. Those losses showed a SEVERE lack of leadership.

In my original post I never mentioned Yogi. I said somebody needed to step up. Anybody. Someone else threw Yogi out there and I responded that last year and his off court issues haven't shown he is ready yet. I hope he proves me wrong

I would also like to say that in Yogi's defense, we now know players were getting busted for drugs, not buying in, and generally not liking being at IU. So as far as him taking the shots he did and lifting up the team points wise, he did an excellent job. I would put 80% of the awful losses and absolute breakdowns on coaching. But you also need coaching on the court. You need a guy to get everyone focused and relaxed. We didn't have that.
