Bozich tweeted today that Martin is now listed as the assistant on the IU website.

And he's no longer listed on the IU website....

Edit: Although, I believe I saw him an hour ago driving the recruiting golf cart.

Yes it is. Indy star reported that he's no longer listed.

I saw a guy driving the cart, that I didn't recognize and I came home and Googled Chuck Martin, and I believe it's the same guy.

Seems bizarre.

Has anything since the Blackmon recommitment seemed normal or "not bizarre"????? Seriously, we look like Sam Houston State with our recent recruiting, coaches and players leaving, arrests, odd rumors swirling. I sure hope we get things back on track..,...Soon.

Agreed. Coach somehow lost the program. On the court and off it. Reality and perception. He's git to get it back and soon. Glass can say what he wants but ultimately, he can and will be overruled.

I know I tend to sound like the proverbial "wet blanket", but....

1.) How bad do things have to get before Glass begins to ask questions; you know, like "What the hell happened"?

2.) If the success of our ability to draw top recruits is tied to someone other than the head coach, it says more about the coach than it does KJ or anyone else we may bring in to do the recruiting

3.) This program may or may not have good kids coming in next year, but with each negative news release or defection, regardless of whom is at the helm of the recruiting trail, convincing players and their parents to tie their wagons to IU is going to be a bigger and bigger issue.

4.) Crean had better show something this next year or he'll sitting on the curb of 17th St. with a cardboard box of his belongings, thumbing for a ride out of town.

Glass will be joining him on 17th street if he doesnt do something soon and im sure he knows it. The days of football schools having better basketball programs than us needs to end now. Kentucky doesnt put up with not being 1 or 2 in the SEC, why should we in the Big Ten?

Look at the incredible success all of IU athletics is experiencing under Glass.

Put any of the top 5 B1G programs in that conference and they are competing against Flordia and UK for the top three spots every year.

Fair enough. But what Duke and UNC in the ACC. Or Kansas in the Big 12? They dont put up with it either.

Coach has 10 months to get the program back where it needs to be or at least trending way up. Lets hope he can :)

Glass overall has done a great job.  If it came down to buying out Crean's contract though I could see some boosters viewing them as tied to the hip because that 14 million buyout was and is ludicrous.  Not saying I'd agree with it, but I could see it.

Fred Glass has been a great athletic director for Indiana University.  I trust his judgment.  That doesn't mean I agree with every single thing he does.  It doesn't mean he is perfect.  But I really have a hard time seeing this guy let the basketball program get too far down the wrong side of the road without making a change.  And I don't say that to mean that I think a change is needed right now.  No.  Coach Crean should and will get a chance to get the train back on the tracks.

I agree with most of your post. Can't say I do with the premature extension though. If it comes down to another change, IU would be foolish AGAIN, to not wait for the right time. If the right opportunity exists again.

Perfectly understandable to not agree with the premature extension but I have to admit, at the time it was announced the program had a ton of positive momentum and in that moment, I didn't question it too much.  As things have evolved, yeah you definitely look back at that moment and think differently.

I absolutely agree with the sentiment that if we are going to make another change, make it at the right time.  Do it the right way, have your ducks lined up in a row.  Don't leave it to chance and/or search committees.  You need to have a fairly good idea of who that next guy is going to be and that he will accept the job.
We need an ex IU player but Crean won't do it and quite frankly, none would probably take it. Who would want to come to a program in turmoil knowing your boss and probably you will be shown the door in less than a year?
