We Need Two!

Bob Knight is a huge part of Crean even being able to spout off about "It's Indiana".  3 of those 5 banners were hung while he was coach.  We went undefeated when he was the coach.  We started wearing the candy stripes when he was the coach.  Did he have issues?  Absolutely, his issues had issues, but that doesn't change the fact that he did a lot of good not only for the basketball program but for the university as a whole.

Tom Crean has done a lot of good for IU basketball too but you never fail to criticize him at every opportunity.  Why can't I criticize Bob Knight for his extremely criticize worthy faults if it's okey dokey for you to slam on Crean all the time?

Bobby Knight in a thread about recruits. We are going to eat each other alive this off season.

Why should it be any different than it has been for the last several years? ;)

It's going to get ugly. From the fire Crean people to us missing recruits, it's going to be a long and terrible off-season. What happens in long, terrible off-seasons when people are still mad about the year before? Petty arguments that spiral out of control. I just hope this board doesn't spiral quite as bad as 247 has. That place is full of unhappy posters with sharpened pitchforks ready to blast you over anything positive you say.

I'm sure you didn't intend for this to be funny, but it gave me a laugh to read it. Must have been the imagery or something, but I agree with the comment.

If we get 3 promising players with our 3 open scholarships things will simmer slightly.  i.e.

We get Eron Harris, Josh Cunningham, Deng Deng or something similar people will settle a little bit, but if we continue to miss recruits as we have for months, it will get more and more ugly, no doubt.  Of the recent misses of Clark, Yaten, AntLee, and TThompson, the only one that bothers me is AntLee.

I've not seen us connected to Eron Harris anywhere except on this board.

I have.

This guy is affiliated with The Big Lead:

Jason McIntyre @jasonrmcintyre Mar 31

It sure SOUNDS LIKE Tom Crean is going hard after transfers Eron Harris (WVU) & Trevor Thompson (VT). Would be really big gets for Indiana

Also I know Albers and Bozich have both put it out there via Twitter.

Brian Snow says that Harris won't receive his release until the end of the semester, which means there won't be much activity on this front until May.

Calbert left to be a full fledged assistant instead of a dbo here. He took a step up. It happens all the time.

It was my understanding Calbert was offered an assistant job here but turned it down then took the same position with an ex IU player. How could an assist at St. Louis be a step up from one at IU?

Thanks. I did a twitter search and only saw Michigan and Purdue. Just haven't been paying attention apparently.

There really is nothing going on with Harris. Just a lot of speculation at this point. All he has put out there is that he wants to play "closer to home". That could mean anything. But as I said, his recruitment won't really start until May.

What "a lot of good" has Tom Crean brought to IU basketball? He won a B1G and graduates his players. And since you brought The General into this discussion doesn't seem really fair. Just look at what Knight did by the same time frame. 1 NC, 2 Final Fours, 4 B1G champs. Now am I especially proud of all Knights antics? No, the same as I feel about some of Creans sideline antics. Winning is what separates the two and there is really no argument there. Like I have said before if Crean were doing what he is paid to do all the "negative posters" would put up with his antics just like Knight and the "sunshine pumpers" would not feel the need to pull the greatest coach in school history into a discussion defending losing. Knight and losing just don't go together like with the current coach.

You brought RMK into it with your Cheaney remark. No amount of wins make his kind of behavior acceptable.

Did I say people can't criticize Bob Knight for his antics?  No, I said he has his issues.  He still is a huge part of Crean being able to say "It's Indiana", a far bigger part than Crean is.

I've "slammed" Crean?  His own track record says he's a wildly mediocre coach, so if me calling a spade a spade is slamming him that means his own history is slamming him.

To get back on topic, give me the BC transfer or a 5th year big, Eron Harris, and deng deng and I'll be happy

I agree, and if we can't get one of those, go for Link. I realize he's another project big, but it is worth it at this point.

Yea, I wouldn't be opposed at all to picking him up. You can't teach 7 feet. Scholarships next year will work itself out.

Oh yea, I didn't put them in any specific order. But I definitely want a player we will have for multiple years that can score at a high volume over a big that is just serving as a gap filler for a year (IMO that's the only type of 5th year big we will land)
