What's the story on Vince Velasquez? Why were the Astros so willing to include him in the Giles deal? The kid is absolutely dealing in Philly.

I can't say for certainty , but I think they were trusting the 1-3 rotation would be set once Lance McCullers returns from the DL. Small loss for a great setup/closer combo.

Problem is Cerano needs to sacrifice a live chicken for the bats to come alive.

I'm just hoping this isn't just a lucky streak and he's legitimately just this good of a pitcher. It'd be nice you have him in the Rotation with Nola for the next 10 yrs or so.

Barring injury he's legit. Very fortunate to land him.

Crazy thing is the Cubs would have killed for the Astros to take Bryant so we could take Appel at 2. We got lucky. On the flip side most people had Correa going in the 6-10 range year he was drafted. Cubs were one of those teams that year. Astros shocked everyone and went underslot and picked Correa and were able to pay McCullers because of it. Worked out for them. We picked Albert Almora.

As I typed the Cubs bats woke up. Leake was throwing smoke up until that inning. Heyward, Bryant, Rizzo, Soler off to slow starts this season.

It's definitely part of it. They didn't want to pay the 4/48 he wanted. But we lucked out and he came back for that one year deal.
