President Whitten - 2024 Faculty No Vote

Right... It's a public university... Who gets public funding... The public doesn't care for certain things that some at the university prioritize. Funding was pulled(which Written literally can't do anything about) because the government realized the public at large didn't care for that topic. Faculty throws hissy fit partly due to it, even though Whiten, literally can't do anything over it. She's just a university president. She has no power outside of that. As for the other part... Safety is a good enough reason. If there is anything else outside of that... It isn't being highlighted like those 2-3 things. At this point, it should be telling the faculty to get over it and move on. -

To him it's probably not worth being the best shooter on the team if he's getting 15 minutes a game, which is the situation he just left. The upside for us is he'll have to play defense against a more dynamic backcourt. -

It’s amazing how much closer you are on specific policy if “left” and “right” are removed from the discussion. Starting a discussion understanding the common ground of basic principles you share with the “other side” can be incredibly helpful in understanding the slight differences you might have on certain issues. A majority of the political problems we currently face are due to a lack of communication. Checking your ego, choosing humility, and understanding triggers that turn you into an emotional wreck are important. I think we can all agree life is precious and the taking of innocent life is immoral. Likewise, rules are in place for a reason. We can choose to break them but must deal with the consequences when caught. -

I've read your posts in this thread and know you basically think workers should just shut up and keep their heads down. Secondly, Indiana University is a public, governmental institution. If you don't believe that people have the right to criticize the way that government is being run -- especially those that are privy to how it is being run -- we really don't have much to discuss. -
just 2 returning players in Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster. Pretty good recruiting class coming in and have crystal balls for Mason Gillis from Purdue and Maliq Brown from Syracuse. Will be interesting to see how the roster finalizes.

He’s likely the worst defender in the entire B10, and not joking either. I don’t know if he’ll even see the floor enough at Nebraska to light anybody up. Nebraska lost a lot in the backcourt this offseason so the avenue to immediate playing time is cleared there, but he was going to struggle to get minutes here next year. -

Perfect storm for him to go to UK.. Reeves was unknown and also a couple others I believe. UK was kinda panicking at the time. -
Tyler Harris, Portland freshman forward, enters. 6'7", averaged 12.1 points and 7.3 reb. 36% shooter from three. Tafara Gapare from Georgia Tech commits to Maryland. Have no idea why Maryland would have thought this was a good commit -- went to U Mass as a fresham, Georgia Tech as a sophomore. In two seasons is 86 of 252 from the field (33%) and 22 of 104 from three (21%). Nothing really sticks out about him. In the part of the portal now where more players commit to new teams than enter. 14 commitments today, 10 entries.

A masterful pitching performance from Copeland throwing a 2-hit shutout and Hoosiers open the weekend with an 8-0 win. She walked 2; struck out 2. 14 of Iowa's 21 outs from infield ground outs. We had 12 hits led by Stone with 3 and Minnick, VanBrandt and Andrews each with 2. Minnick had 3 RBI and Stone had 2. Tonight was our 7th conference win in a row and evens our conference record at 7-7. -

I like Essegian -- loved his potential after his freshman season -- but I think considering him a knock down shooter is overstating what he's done. Through two seasons he's made 34.5% of his threes. If you ask me if I'd rather have a guy who has shot a volume of threes his freshman year and shot 32 or 33% or one who's at 34.5% after two seasons, I'd take the freshman. Mgbako was at 32.7%, Carlyle was at 32.0%. -

He would be the best shooter on the team. Guess he will light up Indiana under Hoiberg system. At least he will have a better coach and program currently. -

agreed....I don't think there is much talent at guard that would willingly walk into this melee of minutes. Gallo, Rice, Tucker, Carlyle are all going to be hard to beat for minutes. -

I don't think we need depth at guard. Backup F/C sure. But I can't imagine anyone wanting guaranteed time at guard would sign up. At a minimum you have to beat out Cupps and maybe Newton for just table scraps. I know most on here don't think much of Cupps, but most guys coming in, and the people advisingthem, at the very least see a freshman who was a capable backup and part time starter last year. Thinking you have to beat out that guy for about 5min a game is a tough sell. Seeing you have to beat out Galloway and IU's newest 5* wing for any real mins off the bench has to be a deterrent.
