Curious to see of free agents who they sign to stay. Baseball Pitching, pitching, pitching, they ended up the way they were most of the season. They would be hot, then cold, then hot, then cold along with the pitchers giving up way to many HRs. Steele and maybe Horton back next Spring which will help a lot, but they need that pitching figured out with the bullpen. pappy1865 1 Quote
LamarCheeks Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Did not realize this happened last night. Brewers up 3-2 in top of ninth. Ty France hits a bomb -- a go-ahead 2-run homer -- to put the Padres up 4-3. Except ... it hits the roof and comes down right in the left fielder's glove. According to the ground rules at Milwaukee's park, if a ball hits the roof in fair territory -- it's a live ball, so you play it as is. Funny thing, it's just like politics. Both sides have their take on it and surprisingly (LOL), they vastly differ. Brewers say it was gonna curve foul. Padres say it would've been a homer. Regardless -- bizarre situation. Quote

The really stupid thing is that MLB allows each stadium to make their own ground rules for balls that the hit the roof in fair territory. Should be one uniform rule. Quote

You have to pay attention to where you're playing and what the rules are. And they say baseball is boring. :D johnsoniu 1 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Am I the only one who's enjoying watching the Dodgers crash and burn in the playoffs? They spent like drunken sailors on shore leave to build the team with the highest payroll by some $80M... and are down 2-0 to the Brewers for a berth in the World Series. I love seeing them burn like a dumpster fire. Brill 1 Quote

I love seeing them burn like a dumpster fire. WatchBaseball I am really liking it, but the Dodgers losing could strengthen the players position in the coming lock out concerning a salary cap. Although they won the last 2 World Series, they will get beat by a team that has a third of the salary just like the Yankees lost to the Rays last round. Spending big money doesn't guarantee success, but it does help your chances. Personally, I have thought an NFL or NBA type of salary cap is long overdue in MLB along with a high floor. More importantly, making contracts a maximum of 5 years and the ability to renegotiate after 3 is the most important. These 8 to 12 year contracts tend to be an albatross around the team in the later years, and they need to be protected from themselves. Quote

Their win will give the players more leverage in the coming lock out seeing the other 3 teams playing are in the bottom half of salary while the top spending teams are all out. It could get ugly. Ohtani thought he could play through it and severely downplayed his injury. Edited October 16 by OliviaPope40 jermhoosierfan 1 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Any World Series that doesn't include the Dodgers or Yankees is a good World Series. The best part is the crap-ton of money the Dodgers spent on a roster that got swept in the LCS. jermhoosierfan, OliviaPope40 and rayl456 3 Quote
