I am very fascinated to see who transfers and who we sign. It will tell us a lot about the inner turmoil all season. Every inkling is Hollowell was a big factor in this. Dakich said so, ND kendrick predicted major roster moves, and Hollowells 3 game hiatus are all hints. Shame is I think we could use him if he bought in. I would rather replace a nonfactor type player, but time will tell.

What did Dakich say in regards to Hollowell being a big factor in "team turmoil"?

Honestly I have an issue even saying there was "team turmoil", that is a pretty harsh term. If anything people had too high of expectations for what this team should have been, and because they didn't reach their expectations they just assumed the team was broken. They just weren't very good, it isn't quite as simple as that, at the very least some of it comes back to coaching, some of it comes to the construction of the team, and another part comes back to the players. But I don't but the "team turmoil" story, they just weren't as good as some people made them out to be, plus they never came that close to what people kept on saying their potential was

I just don't agree with this. I don't think there was any team turmoil they just weren't very good this year plain and simple. I also disagree with hollowell being a non factor because he really started to come on towards the end of the year and believe it or not will have to be a big factor next year if the supposed squad that's going to be a ton better wants to be better. Hollowell needs to turn into a team leader alongside yogi.

I agree this team doesn't do a good job of getting big men the ball, but if Noah were better at getting good position and better in general offensively, he'd probably get the ball more.

I just have a hard time saying that's all of it.  Let's face it, even with Cody for two years we struggled to get him the ball.  3 years with the exact same problem tells me it's systemic.

It's definitely not all of it, but I think it's part of it.

why would Noah stick around when we can't feed the post and he gets maybe 5 shots a game if lucky. No big man is going to come to iu with Crean there. If he is going to recruit all 6-7 guys then he needs to pick up the pace and start pressing and stop playing zone that he has no idea how to coach. So frustrating.

Oh well. I thought we were turning the corner to reestablish ourselves as an elite program. The past 2 years were big steps towards that. This season is a gigantic step backwards and other mediocre programs gained on us. I hope in my lifetime we can achieve being an annual tourney team without question and NCAA contender every 2 years or like the big boys.

Look at Creans record at Marquette to find your answer. He should get the credit for the rebuild and the criticism for not getting to the next level which is final fours and national championships. I said last years team would be the best he ever coached at IU and he won't be here long enough to match it. He's a nice guy blah blah blah blah. You always find nice things to say about the ones who cannot coach. Sampson may have been a scumbag for lying about extra phone calls of all things, but he could out coach Crean any day of the week. Plus he recruited one of my all time unheraded favorates in Deandre Thomas. I really liked his game; reminded me of the fridge in basketball shoes.

He could really play too. He had soft hands, could pass well and had a great knack for the ball. I think that was Sampsons 08 team which included DJ, EJ, Bassett, Crawford, Thomas and Ellis. They had the potential to go really deep until it imploded. Sampson really proved he could coach his first year at IU when they overplayed their potential most games. His teams played hard and were well coach which is ironic considering how they were so undiciplined outside the court. Never once did he complain about losing so and so or how they were too young. Excuses just weren't part of his equation which is admirable considering what we hear now. Unfortunately, his shortcomings in all of the important things we have always valued at IU were his undoing. But, he could coach no doubt about it.

or Jurkin...or Hollowell...or Hartman...or Etherington....or Gordon (well, at least there is slight argument we are trying to get the younger brother)

Crean needs to hammer the juco route.

You'll get a low ranked big no one wants that might be able to walk and chew gum and the same time and like it.

Well, none of us should like it but that's what we'll get.  Crean loves him some project bigs, even though his track record with them isn't good.
