How much longer until Crean is on the hot seat?

Recommended Posts

It's not even the losses that bother me the most, it's how we lose them. We usually come out of the gate very strong, and go to halftime w/ a lead. Then at the half, where coaches have to make adjustments, Crean gets blown out of the water. There is a reason why we have choked games like we have this season.

I'm not a fan of Crean and I don't think we will hang a banner with him. BUT as an IU fan I don't want us to lose just for him to go. I'll never root against IU for any reason. If Im wrong and Crean gets the job done and hangs one I'll be thrilled and eat crow all at the same time. I don't want Crean to fail by any means because that will mean IU is failing. It's so easy to fire someone and not think of any consequences.

What name out there is an upgrade and would actually come to Indiana?

And enough of acting like last season was an abject failure.

You never know until that time comes. Moot point now anyway, maybe we worry about that a couple of years down the road, maybe its further than that.

My mind always goes to IU alums, just for fun. Alford...nah. Mike Woodson....I think Crean's doing okay haha.

I like Alford, a good coach. But I have yet to see that he is the answer at IU. He has a chance to make his name at UCLA. Woodson, I don't see much there. Personally I don't see a big need for a hire to be a alumni. How many head coaches (and we have some good ones at IU) are alumni? Its about having a good coach who is a good fit.

Yeah I understand that. It's just the first thing I think about. There would be too much pressure on an alum (especially a Knight alum) to be able to succeed in my mind.

Honestly, a Knight alum would probably be the worst. The old school fans would expect everything to be done the same way RMK did it, and a lot of younger fans would be griping that we were taking a step back a few decades. Guy would get shot at by both sides. The arguments might be worse about a RMK coaching tree hire, than they are about CTC.

I think this is a list of coaches who would listen if IU called:

Gregg Marshall

Jim Crews

Paul Rhoads

Tony Bennett

Mark Few

Shaka Smart

Steve Alford

Tommy Amaker

Chris Collins

Greg McDermott

Michael White

I'm not saying Crean should go, be on the hot seat, etc. just thought it would be interesting to compile a list.

If it ever got to this, I'd want Indiana to talk to Chris Collins and Gregg Marshall first.
Coach Crean and company will continue to recruit top picks. We will get a top team again. Maybe when Yogi is there. Maybe not. Hot seat?? Not for a long time.
I think next year's team could be really really good, and hot seat talk goes away.

If this is the real Doclibby she has a new blog at doclibby.net check it out, the view from a sports mom. Everyone knows the mother is always right.

If Vonleh leaves, we won't be "really really good".  We'll have no post player aside from Hanner.  Even with Vonleh we may not be "really really good" because we'll have no depth behind him, aside from Hanner.

So much whining and crying. It's just one season. That just happens to not be over yet. You all act like the seasons over. Still basketball to be played. If you really believe the ship has sunk already maybe you should find a new hobby for rest of the season instead of bi***ing about CTC after every game. I'm still happy with things this season. Disappointed at times but overall pleased with the way the players are improving. This team will accomplish big things in next two years. For sure.

If this is our list then I am more than happy to stand pat with Crean.
