Yep. We're promoting the program, investing in coaches, improving the stadium with another expansion, and with the recruits coming in, we should see wins!

I thought last year that it seemed natural for us to have different/alternate uniforms for the more modern-looking helmets. As much as I liked the chrome it did look a little odd with the traditional uniforms we have. Same goes for these helmets, especially since they a little more modern even.

 

And hey to you too Jaybob! It took me a while to find this place, and I've always much more of a lurker than a poster...been following along since the old Scout days though! Then of course to HSN, 247, and now here.

I'm too old and too cynical to embrace this kind of change. They're nice if one wants to decorate their own house with what they like, but the school and team need to retain some semblance of tradition and consistency, (the exception being their won loss percentage).

I still think our traditional school colors are the best, (Cream and Crimson). Adding or making black or chrome the predominant color, eliminating gloss from the helmets and making them "matte"does nothing for me. I I can see where someone could make a buck trying to introduce these changes, but as I see it, as long as the product on the field improves, our traditional uniforms will become a hot and marketable item.

I'm all for keeping our tradition in basketball, so this may sound kind of hypocritical but here football and basketball are two completely different histories.  Our football program needs all the help it can get, and if changing the helmets gets more talented kids excited to join a program that has historically been a doormat so be it.

Well, that's fine, but you, nor anyone here (including me) speak for the whole fanbase. And what traditional uniforms? We've changed constantly through the years. The reason Alabama doesn't change is because they don't really have to. People will buy their stuff no matter what. Even when we start winning, we need to be creative.

When one sees a team changing their unis, it's almost always because that team or program is on the down and outs, and by extension, trying to drum up excitement in the fan base or dollars to compensate for low gate receipts. I can't see where there's anything positive about it beyond the superficial. I really hope that Wilson develops a monster program that allows the focus of both fans and recruits to be on the play of the team, not the flashy gear.

I'm failing to see any correlation between innovative uniforms and programs that are on the down and outs. I think you have teams with crazy uniforms on both ends of the spectrum. And when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what you, or me, or any fans think about them. It comes down to getting recruits and making those recruits winners. Guys that age more often than not are into anything new, whether it be uniforms, facilities, whatever. So if it takes having new uniforms every year (which I, personally, enjoy) to continue getting good recruits, then I think we should get on board with it, or at least tolerate it. And it looks like Wilson has been pretty successful recently in doing just that.

And Oklahoma state, and michigan state...heck, Notre dame comes up with a new helmet every year for the shamrock series. Wilson isn't sacrificing practice time for helmets. They have a marketing staff for that stuff, although, yes, I'm sure he gets the final say.

The candy striped one is great!  the Matte helmets will look great on gameday, live or on the tube both.
