IU vs. PSU Post-Game Thread

Good tenacity to fight back from 15 down....Hoping that the rumor about JH failing the drug test isn't true.

Some excellent movement for once on offense in the second half and the defense tightened up a bit as well. Not sure what our final tally was on TO, but those seemed to be down as well.

Some questionable coaching decisions down the stretch, but most seemed to pan out and we got the win. This was a must win to keep any hope at a post-season alive. If Noah keeps playing at a level like today, he's gone after this year.

13 I believe. Yogi was 7 assists against 1 turnover I think.

After subbing offense/defense with Jeff Howard, I think we should test Crean.

Well, I know that Howard has no where near the talent that Noah has, but I really don't get all the clamor that erupts every time he gets minutes. He's not going to score a lot, but he does a bit here and there, grabs a few rebounds, and keeps pretty good position. I'm not saying I would have done that, but I didn't see anything that made it look like a glaring mistake either.

I don't mind him getting a few minutes, but in that situation I'm forgetting he's even on the team.

Fine with him getting minutes here and there. But, he shouldn't be on the court above Noah with two minutes to go, even if Noah has 4 fouls, which he didn't today. There were 2 or 3 possessions in a row for Penn State that they were able to keep it alive relatively easily, and they all occurred with Jeff in over Noah. Don't know if we would have closed out those possessions with Noah out there, but would assume our chances go way up with him on the court, as opposed to with Jeff on the court

Nice to see the team stay tough after that bad start and fight back for the win.  Needed that one badly!  Honestly, I did not miss Hollowell one bit.  Jeff Howard being on the court late in the game gave me the willies but he actually did some good things today in his limited minutes.  Etherington with the clutch three, kind of reminded me of the one Remy hit from the corner in West Layflat a couple years back.

Onto Wisconsin.  Everyone will be expecting the worst so who knows, maybe this will actually be the time we beat those turds.  Never know, crazier things have happened.

3 players really, where did this rumor come from?

DD played two minutes.  It's not as much as normal but he did play.

As far as the game goes, here are my random thoughts.

* I thought we did a better job of getting Noah the ball in the post.  Obviously that needs to continue.

* The turnovers were a better so that is a plus.

* Stan continues to impress me.

* I didn't pull any hair out watching Troy today.

* Austin made me take back some of the things I've said to people about my thoughts on him seeing the floor ever again.

* Better IU teams have struggled against worse PSU  teams up there so I'll just take the win and not worry about the margin.

Penn State played harder than us today. Because that's what Penn State does. I think they would out-hustle/beat up just about every team in the nation because that's what they live off of (along with Frazier and Newbill). Unless it's something serious, we will probably never know the full story behind Hollowell and/or the "other 2/3", so no need to speculate. I'm just glad we won a hard fought game, as for Tuesday...we'll see. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Stan was the second-highest rated freshman in this class by the numbers, above Troy and Davis. So it should come as no surprise that he's finally beginning to break out. I was impressed with the toughness we showed today on the road. We did it in Illinois, too, just couldn't get over the hump. Hoping Jeremy was just being disciplined for one game for lousy play to inspire hunger. We need him if we're going to make the tournament.
