^^This a GREAT list^^

A little IU/BoDeans history: saw the BoDeans in Btown on the roof of a parking garage in the 1980’s. The place was packed and the band was fire. When everyone started jumping at once the garage roof started to shake and dip A LOT!

and they had to cancel the rest of the show and evacuate. That was really fun tho.

Very nice. Saw them open for U2 on The Joshua Tree tour. 3 band show with U2, Los Lobos and BoDeans. That was better than average. If you haven’t seen the story behind their breakup, it was really, really ugly.

Counting Blue Cars - Dishwalla

No Rain - Blind Melon (kinda obvious, still great)

Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger

These all happen to pop up on a specific Spotify station of mine and I enjoy them every time.

True, I forgot about Mendicino. Loved his Tex/Mex sound with the legendary Flacco Jimmenz on accordian

Does anybody else remember Sir Winston and The Commons? Local Indy band who put out a couple of 45's. Really good band.

For “favorite” gotta be something that doesn’t suck and the only song from that act that the public heard. Sometimes there was a lot of good that they didn’t hear though.
sooo…

Walking On Sunshine: Katrina and the Waves

Lights Are Changing: Mary Lou Lord (a Nick Soloman song!)

96 Tears: (? And the Mysterians)

Roadrunner: Modern Lovers (one of the best albums evah!)

Groove is in the Heart: Deee-Lite

There She Goes: The La’s (great band)

No Myth: Michael Penn (Sean’s brother, very successful film score writer, married to Aimee Mann)

Deee Lite was a fun band, i had that CD, but they had a couple hits or well-played songs as I recall. Without looking it uo, think that was early 90s

First, thank God no one has said Macarena!!!

Going to throw in a few that aren’t my favs but absolutely listened to them back in the HS / college days  - in no particular order

- Jump Around - House of Pain

- In a Big Country- Big Country, such  great, catchy song

- Wipe Out - The Surfaris

- Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band

- O Oh Child - Five Stairsteps

- Tainted Love - Soft Cell

- Cars - Gary N - fed right into early 80s synth, and my freshman year in HS — in the same vein, how about

- Turning Japanese - the Vapors

- Play that Funky Music! - Wild Cherry

Love My Sharona, love it … but … the lyrics … oh man, he wrote it for a 17 year old girl… lol — and then they had, appropriately lol, Good Girls Dont

Daughter #1 comes through again with music for Dad’s vacation. The Beths are a New Zealand indy band with 3 albums out, all of which turned out to be terrific listens.

Been listening to The Beths for about a year now. LOVE Expert in a Dying Field.

For all; IMO this music won't change your life, but it is so easy to enjoy. So if you're a grumpy old sh!t that thinks nothing from the past decade is to your liking, give it a go.

PS; methinks they are an "indie" band, not an "indy" band.        :)

What about a grumpy not that old sh!t that thinks most music of the last decade is utter garbage?

Now I'll go back to listening to the Doors.
