IU vs UCONN Official Game thread

Recommended Posts

Below is KenPom's current rankings (pulled a few mins ago).

Chicago St - 310

LIU-B - 201

Samford - 301

Stony Brook - 79

Washington - 129

IU - 29

UCONN - 13

I'm certainly not saying we'll lose this game because KenPom has UConn at a higher rating...but I will say things won't come as easily as the games in the past (I consider the LIU-B game a fluke of sorts).

This is our first true test IMO.

Haven't seen a Vegas line yet, but Pomeroy likes UConn 79-77 tonight and gives the Hoosiers a 40 percent chance to win. #iubb

I saw Uconn 2.5 points favorite somewhere else this am. It should be a close game, it'll be a battle. Even if they lose there's lots to be learned from tonight. I don't expect the team to go undefeated by any means. I think they have a good chance tonight, gotta guard the threes and get the ball inside.

Game time is 7pm (look for it to be later than that)

Edit: first I've seen IU favored, no idea who is making this prediction

RT @markalesia: Unranked IU is 1.5-point favorite tonight over No. 18 UConn. #iubb

Hmmmm....yeah not looking forward to the reaction in Hoosierland when IU loses (and they are going to lose some this year), but I feel that first loss won't be in tonight's game. Who knows, just my gut.

You are telling me you aren't looking forward to the sky is falling fans?

But looking forward to tonight. There were times when I felt great about how fluid we were able to look and run the offense. And then there were times when we looked stagnant offensively. Again I think we have a good advantage with having Vonleh down low, hopefully Williams comes up big again tonight. He put on a showcase last night, as did Yogi

Everyone just ignore them.. they are just wanting to get under people's skin and looking for attention. It's childish and pathetic. Every site has a few of them.

Going to be a good test tonight of how our players can tighten up there play and really focus.  Good "experience" game.  Might just see some guys really zone in. (I know, zone isn't a great choice of wording)

Reread the game thread from last night, seems like JH got a lot of crap from people. Hoping he has a good night tonight, he clearly doesn't have an issue getting to the rim, and getting the shot he wants. He has had a bit of an issue finishing at the rim though, though I did like that he finally attempted to throw one down last night. Hopefully he has a good night tonight.

Like the way Evan plays, good passing, under control.  Hope his 3pt shot improves.  Troy's confidence is shooting through the roof, only means good things hopefully!

Looking forward to seeing who comes out and really bears down tonight.  Hoping DD has a great game, would like to see Hartman get some minutes too.

Good early test tonight.

Hopefully most of you guys get to read this.  As a mod, I don't want to babysit during a game.  As much as you guys, I am a huge fan of this team.  That said, we need to cut out on the posts talking about players needing to leave or how terrible they are when they make a bad play.  If they make a bad play, say it.  Don't call them worthless.  As a site we want to grow.  To be accepted to grow we can't have someone look at our site and view some of the vitriol thrown at a few players last night.  We won't get accepted that way.  Discussion is good.  Critiquing is ok.  Degrading will not be.  Thanks for all of the help and lets have us a game!

Interesting note.

IU blocks a lot of shots.  So does UConn.

UConn has a guy who plays 15 minutes a game and has 18 blocked shots already lol.

Hopefully this can be Hanner.  With his length he needs to block shots around the basket, not attack the player.

Exactly. Hanner needs to go vertical instead of always grabbing at the player. Once he gets that down, he'll be scary good at blocking shots.
