Will Our Depth Lead Us To Victory Thursday and Friday?

Recommended Posts

With the 2k Sports Classic this Thursday and Friday, depth could become a factor if we can get past Washington.  Last year's team provided little depth because there was usually a drop off in talent.  This year, not the case (except with Yogi), and with IU's fast pace and foul trouble for every team it seems like because of the new hand-checking rule, I believe IU's depth could play a major factor against Washington and BC/UConn.

What do you guys think?

If Hanner keeps playing at a high level, and stops with silly fouls. I believe that our front line will be better than anything Washington, or UConn can toss at us. We arent getting destroyed when Noah goes to the bench for a breather. Devin Davis helps with that ton also. This years team should be playing at 100 mph all game every game...

Not to mention look getting better as well. I think he will be big for us this year off the bench. Needs to learn to adapt to playing down low against similar sized guys, but he will be a good one for us. Injuries hurt the growth of this team this summer and fall.

Could have been worse, she could have asked you if you wanted a super-sized one.

Back to the topic though, I think Indiana's depth is perfect for quick turnaround games. Especially if the other team has a quick turnaround too. The Big ten tournament will really test this theory. If Indiana can somehow get a bye in the first round and then play a team that had to start on Wednesday... I love how fast we play and the depth we appear to have. That all being said, it looked like we had better depth than we really did last year before we got to the tougher games. It wasn't until the. Did Crean stop going deep on his bench. Hopefully that doesn't happen again this season.

I think something more important than depth is experience in an environment like Madison Square Garden.  It can go one of two ways for this young group.  1)  They fold under the bright lights or 2) They are too young and inexperienced to realize the importance of these games.

To the OP, I think depth will certainly play a factor in this pre-con tourney.  I really don't expect the Washington game to be all that close and I expect UCONN to try to run with us.  If we can keep the turnovers down against UCONN we could win this thing.  Regardless of the outcome I am looking for consistent growth from this team every week.
