Deer / Animal Hunters

Recommended Posts

I was glad to find out the thrill of hunting never gets old. One of the men I hunt with is about 75.  He has been hunting for over 60 years.  Saturday morning, he got the shakes so bad, he missed on "The Biggest Deer I ever saw!"  at about 30 yards.  Other than that it was a slow weekend in the woods for my group.

Deer roast with onions, carrots, and potatoes in the crockpot as I type this.

Well this was a first and I cooked it a little too long. So I shredded it and put it back in the gravy and veggies. Here's a pic

Wisconsin Gun Season is over for me.  It was a little more successful than my stint in Missouri, but only by a little.  The only thing I saw that I could get a shot at, was a small doe.  I wasn't going to shoot, but it had a broken leg.  So I figured better dinner for my family, than dinner for the coyotes.  :)

Just got a call from the neighbor of the land I hunt in Indiana, and he was telling me the pattern of some of the biggest bucks he has ever seen; so I am hopeful once again!

Wow. You are all over the place. In my part of Indiana any buck patterns go out the window when guns start banging.

My wife is very understanding.   :)  The nice part about the land I hunt in Indiana, is there are almost no gun hunters. The deer don't go to ground like they normally would!  That being said, you know how it goes.  I could sit out there for 5 days, and not have one deer come close enough.

Sometimes those days where you see nothing are the best. Some of the most relaxing times of my life have been in the woods.

View from my office yesterday morning.

Sent from my LGL41C using BtownBanners mobile app

I have only been able to get out once on opening day, seen a few really nice bucks while harvesting though. Starting to get really excited about getting out maybe this weekend and definitely my 4 day weekend for veteran's day, or gun season which I took a week off work.
