Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Paybacks are hell. Let's make that winning streak 3 in a row. Toiletmakers (11-12) (3-9) are on a 3-game losing streak and just 1-8 in road games. Their most recent loss was last night in Mackey to previously winless in conference Penn State. They average 70 ppg shooting 43% FG and 34% on 3s. They average 36 rpg just 3 better than their opponents. They turn the ball over 16/game. Tara Daye at 12.4 and Kiki Smith at 10.6 are their leading scorers. On any volume, Smith at 36% and Madison Layden-Zay at 35% are their best 3-point shooters. Daye at 6.8 is their leading rebounder. Next best at 4.5 is Lana McCarthy. As a team, they have an assist/turnover ratio of under 1.0. In the game at Mackey, we controlled the boards but they made 50% (11-22) of their 3-point shots. Our laxness in perimeter defense also let them have 21 assists against just 15 turnovers; a team who on the season's ratio is less than 1.0. If we can avoid foul trouble and the careless ball handling, there's no reason we can't send them back to West Laffy with their 4th loss in a row. TheWatShot Posted February 7 Posted February 7 We made them look a lot better than they really are last time around. Hopefully Moren is a little more invested in this one. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted February 8 Posted February 8 We're up 20-18 midway through 2nd quarter. Should not be this close. Can't figure out of we're sinking to their level -- or they're rising to ours. Probably a little of both. Quote

JerryYeagley23 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 B1G+ is the worst. Trying to kill time until Super Bowl and can’t even watch an IU game. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Got a little separation before halftime. Up by 13 after 30 minutes. It's the Shay Ciezki show, folks. Quote

LamarCheeks Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Third-quarter boon becomes a third-quarter swoon. Had a 19-point lead at one point. After 30 minutes, however -- it's back down to 10. 54-44 Quote

Only significant difference today is PUke's 3-point shooting. 50% at Mackey and currently 6-20 at SSAH. They shoot that same 50% today and it's a nailbiter. We again have crushed them on the boards but have allowed them 16 assists vs. just 8 turnovers. PUke a team who's season assist/turnover ratio is less than 1.0. And I'm not watching the game but anyone that is can you pass along how Faith can pick up 4 fouls in 4 minutes. Quote
Stuhoo Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Cruised to the finish; up by 22 midway through the 4th and won by 15 after some garbage buckets. And Onidneme, even as a freshman, is worlds better than Wiseman. Without Zania we’re pretty weak, but how we ever lost in W Lay Flat is a sad & ridiculous thing. Quote
LamarCheeks Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Got a little revenge on those gals from up north. Final margin was 15, but we had a 20-point lead at one point. Ciezki was great; also got some nice contributions from Caffey, Noyan and even Ondineme -- who had a couple big buckets. We crushed them on the boards, 47-29. Now, we head west, where Southern Cal and UCLA -- and two losses -- await. Might be able to make it somewhat competitive with USC, which is struggling a bit without JuJu. But we could be looking at a 30-40 point loss at UCLA. Class of '66 Old Fart and WayneFleekHoosier 2 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Reported elsewhere both Z and Stotijn were in boots today. Stotijn may be back "soon"; Z "not soon". It's possible that Z could meet the criteria for a medical redshirt if the foot problem (not an ankle) doesn't allow her to get back on the court. LamarCheeks and mamasa 2 Quote
TheWatShot Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Haven't lost at home to Purdue since 2010. We may have lost the overall streak a few weeks ago but at least we protected homecourt. LamarCheeks and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote
