How is Darian DeVries Doing So Far?

Upgrades are needed. Coach should know it, and he has to go get them. Could be great, if so…

After seeing it, I like the potential.

He coached for almost half a century. Syracuse isn’t a blue blood because of it but they’re in the mix for the second rate programs.  5 FFs over 40 years is one every eight.
 

Up until a few years ago Izzo averaged one every four. Before he fell off so did Knight (plus 3 titles). K averaged better than one FF per four years. So did Roy Williams. Calhoun was one FF per five-ish years but won 3 titles.  
 

Boheim isn’t one of the greats by any measure. Flawed system. I’d rather IU keep rolling the dice than babysit a good, but not great, coach who might win a title in 2056. No thanks.

We should have built a top 25 roster.  That’s the goal when you spend that level of money. Otherwise it’s a relative failure. Then getting results is the next step.  Get more out of less or less out of more is the big coaching evaluation. Jury is out on DeVries both on roster building and team improvement. 

Coach DDv doesn’t have the clout to build a top 25 roster.  He has to coach up what he can get and work from there.  Make the tournament and he’ll be headed in the right direction.

You can clearly model great coaches.  I don’t know enough about CDdv to make that determination yet, but unfortunately I’m learning no.

Beginning to doubt that Sisley is back next year. No info just a strange drop off for a guy who really shined early. In a blow out loss to PU he barely plays?

Maybe he's seeing/learning the TD role he could be filling next year, with more size and athleticism. Can't wait to see the improvement from this kid, with a full year under his belt. I really believe he can be a major contributor next year. Hope he believes this too.
