6'5" 4-star SG attends Colonia HS in Colonia, NJ and plays AAU for Team Final on the EYBL circuit.  He comes from an athletic family background as his older brother Jordan played at Rutgers and will play at Dayton this season and his sister, Taylor, plays basketball at UMass.

Nice background story on 247 but unfortunately behind the paywall.  But this quote really sticks out and I immediately thought @WayneFleekHoosier is gonna love this kid if we land him.

"I know they like my attitude on the court. Every coach loves a dog, and I'm a dog, on offense and defense," he said. "I'm a guy with crazy energy who doesn't back down from anyone or anything.

I do love that. Winning mentality. We haven’t had enough of it.

This kid goes to a school about 40 mins from me but in the same division as my local HS, so I'll definitely have to catch a game. Colonia HS is a big sports school / community, not exceptional in basketball but solid. Noticed his IG bio says #staypublic so assume he won't follow fellow former Colonia player Chad Baker-Mazara's footsteps and leave for an academy (CBM went to Spire after). I like what I've read from about Derkack and he seems to be doing well in AAU, but he's not playing the best of the best during the HS season. Personally I like the idea of recruiting players who weren't on super teams in HS.

The author mentioned IU but Aiden didn't. I wonder if the schools that he talked were the ones asked about by the interviewer or if he was asked an open ended question and those are the ones he chose to talk about. Not a great sign if it's the latter but I'm guessing it's the former.

There were subtle hints we may starting back off some because of his 3 point shooting on peegs last weekend

He mentions planning to see his brother play several games at Dayton and I thought, man, that’s kind of a hike. But, oh yeah, A-10, so LaSalle and St Joe’s, Fordham wouldn’t be a bad trip, right, George Mason, GW,. That actually works pretty well for them.

Aiden Derkack has received his release from Providence and will reopen his recruitment, he told @Rivals. The 6-6 wing is the No. 66 overall recruit in the 2026 class.

This observation from @Demo yesterday - The best player in this game for Spire imo was pretty clearly ‘26 wing Aiden Derkack. Had a nice game and competed his a$$ off even when it started to get away from them. Currently a Providence commit and had an IU offer from the current staff. Depending what happens with the HC situation at Providence that situation could possibly come back around.

Would be completely down with getting in here. Tough, smart, mature game, good shooter. Plus, has kind of a chippiness about him where you just know he’s one of those kids opposing fanbases will always hate and he’ll eat it up.
