Clearly a sub. Averaged 1.4 DRB per game. 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. Sophomore year, 25 mpg in 16 games before he got hurt. 3.7 DRB per game. 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. No idea how this “prowess” constitutes qualifying for one of the best defensive players all-time at IU. Would his NBA reputation carry on to his college days? He was good defensively, but just didn't have enough time to solidify it. Quote

He was a force, just as he is in the NBA. His soph year he was taking off then came his season-ending injury. These stats are at best misleading. But one season as a sub and about half of another hardly puts him in the conversation with guys who played and started 3-4 years ago. Try putting him in context with those guys and then make your case at how hysterical it is. HoosierHoopster 1 Quote

All-time IUBB Defensive Team as in impact at IU? Or best raw ability defenders to have ever come through IU? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. AkronHoosier and go iu bb 2 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted April 24 Posted April 24 From a shot blocking perspective, Jeff Newton deserves mention. LIHoosier 1 Quote

He stays in my T5. Dude's 6'8 230 and can guard someone like Jamaal Murray and he ISN'T in your Top 5? We've not had 5 better defenders here. AkronHoosier 1 Quote

So you are basing it on one great defensive game by a guy who played a year and half at IU. Did you see guys like Wilkerson or Buckner, how about IT and Tolbert or Henderson. All of those guys except IT did it over 4 years. Quote

IT is 6ft tall I'm not sure why their length of time at IU is relevant. 6'8 230 and can check Jamaal Murray, other than Wilkerson who is doing that in IUBB history? VO? Quote

What does height have to do with being a great defensive player. IT defense in the championship game vs UNC was what turned the game around to start the second half. If I just look at OG at IU there is no way you put him in the top 5. If you count what he has done since then you might be right. CSP 1 Quote
