I'm trying not to read too much into the QB comment, but I am surprised Jackson wasn't mentioned...

I think the "definitely" part of the statement says everything we need to know. CCC obviously doesn't think what we need at qb is already on the roster. And, I might add, replacing Rourke won't be an easy task.

I think they'll just bring in someone to compete with TJ and the chips fall where they may.

And as well as TJ has played this season, you know Rourke had to bring it in the spring to totally beat him out during those practices.

I may be remembering incorrectly or possibly CCC was being coy and not giving out more info than he needed to but didn't CCC pretty much say that neither Rourke or TJ had really separated themselves from the other in the spring and preseason practices? I do remember he didn't announce a starter until close to the first game.

Well Rourke was QB1 in the spring game.

He stated in the spring practices, "Well, I am not going to tell you about the quarterback rotation. From here on out I might not be very open about it. I am impressed with [Kurtis] Rourke's progress, let's just say that."

"He just looks like [he is more comfortable]. The last two practices he has been functioning and looking like a high-level quarterback. "

Then Rourke got a full interview after the spring game in the IndyStar.

I recall that to.  But practice and game are different. I don’t like the guy but Tom Brady consistently got beat out for a starting spot yet whenever he got PT dude delivered results

I really just am not seeing what others appear to be seeing in Jackson. He played one full game this year and went 11-19 for 124 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. It was the second lowest game of the year in both passing yards and completion percentage. What has he shown to make people confident he can be the guy to lead IU to a playoff appearance next season?

Did you watch that game? The Washington game... because bringing up the INT in that game is... ehhh lol.. definitely not on him.

Plus.. the 2nd half against Nebraska was a good of a QB'ed half as we've seen. . It's really not about numbers for me.

Everyone has said,  let's go grab a portal guy, I just don't know for sure if that guy is beating TJ out after how well he's played this year and an extra year in the system

The second half of the Nebraska game.  7-8, 91 yards, 2 TDs.  16.4 yards per attempt.  Some fantastic throws, and the one incompletion was a drop.

And a 15 yard rushing TD called back for a hold. Unbelievably good half while coming in "cold".

Washington was the perfect game to have to play without Rourke. A really good and talented pass defense and, as we made quite evident, a pretty horrible run defense. Tayven played well, but I'm not sure Rourke would've thrown it a whole lot more than Tayven did. I'm pretty bullish on Tayven working under this staff (and competing with Cherry/Mendoza/portal guy) for another offseason.

Pretty good 3 halves of football in a row for TJ from 2H of Nebraska through full game against Washington. 2 bowl teams

I hate these people so much. Why did they all decide to make IU the target of their angst? Our schedule had the two teams that played in the national championship game last year on it. It’s not our fault they both dropped off.

“We’re not really doing this, are we? We're not really rewarding a team for simply winning games against overmatched competition” ok, but why should we reward SEC teams for losing games against overmatched competition? Alabama lost to two 6-6 teams. Ole Miss lost to a 7-5 team and an 8-4 team. Ole Miss beat its 2-10 rival by 12 points last weekend. We beat our 1-11 rival by 66 points last weekend. We have more wins by 14+ points than Ole Miss or Alabama have total.

The SEC slobberers are embarrassing themselves.

Elitist mentality! These people are truly despicable. One week they yell from the top of their lungs about SOS. Then when the metrics changed, they moved on to the "my dad can beat up your dad" argument. With their logic, let's add 3 loss Illinois to conversation. After all,  they did beat a team (Kansas) who went on a 3 game W streak against ranked opponents. lol

And this is what is so dadgum frustrating about all the noise from our CFP berth.

We are the WORST program in major college football history. We were picked to finish as low as 17th in the 18-team Big Ten (from what I recall). And we had a new coach and a pretty big roster turnover. All we did was finish 11-1 -- with every win (save Michigan) coming by at least two touchdowns and our only loss coming on the road to the No. 2-ranked team. We also beat the two teams that appeared in last year's national title game.

And instead of just letting us enjoy our season, the noisemakers want to shite all over us. My mom (God rest her soul) would just tell me to ignore it -- but man, it's annoying AF.

It really is annoying, especially since those same people think a team like Alabama absolutely deserves to be in despite loosing to 6-6 Vanderbilt and getting blown out by 6-6 Oklahoma 24-3. They also ignore other teams with weak schedules like Texas, PSU, ND, SMU.

I'm kinda in the same place. I like Jackson a lot, especially because he's a local guy who I followed in high school. But he does not process the game the way that Rourke does. Rourke's brain is elite. Maybe, and I hope, Jackson can get there with the help of this staff. But I don't want to go into next season counting on that to happen. I don't think CCC does either.

I wonder how Rourke’s looked when he was a sophomore. QB are sometimes a wild card.  One year they stink the next they finally get it.
