Which sucks really bad. IU wasn’t the only program balking at that price and now he is talking about going back to FAU. With the way the roster is constructed, there’s one glaring weakness: a 5 who can protect the rim and rebound on both ends of the floor. If there was ever a time to overpay for a position of need, this would have been the time. Nothing against Reed Bailey, I like what he brings to the table offensively, but he just seems like a redundant piece given the remaining personnel. There’s plenty of firepower 1-4 to where a higher usage 5 who is a big defensive liability doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Juwan Moye and skhoosier2 2 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 DeVries - 2 million Wilkerson - 2 million Bailey 1.5 million Conerway - 1.25 million Dorn - 750,000 to 1 million Miles - 600,000 Drake - 400,000 Alexis - 1 million Enright - 600,000 Sisley - 400,000 Harris - 500,000 Pretty we spent 10-11 million and not including Goode. Kentucky offered Wilkerson that much for their starting SG role. MSU was going hard after Conerway. Every school would take DeVries. Bailey committed to IU over Texas and Kentucky. Alexis a solid backup big. Enright is a solid backup guard. The biggest questions are Dorn, Miles, Drake, Harris and Sisley and we just hope one fills a starting role and backup role. Drama much. Some of these numbers match what I’m seeing. Some I haven’t seen reported. Alexis at a million would be wild. Enright at 600k is wild. Conerway at 1.25 is something too. If we are paying an “all conference” price, “P5” starter price, P5 reserve price and then you think Indiana should be able to beat everyone except about 10 in total budget we should be able to pick our starters and our reserves. Then it’s just scouting and setting worth. I suppose that’s exactly what the staff did. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

He is a worse version of Reed Bailey that blocks better. Doesn’t rebound better a whole lot. As was said in another place, most of the big time bigs knew where they were going before entering the portal. Alexis has a higher rebounding percentage and his block percentage was double what Baba was at the mid major route. Sometimes height isn’t everything. Quote

Shocked Florida wouldn’t entertain the idea of bringing back Alexis if he’s as good as advertised, especially considering there’s a possibility they might lose both Condon and Chinyelu. Florida wasn’t going to touch him for that amount? The gets are “overpays”. Just gotta have a great scout and moneyball it. I think Freshman add nice roster stability for cheaper but we didn’t have the luxury. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

They will get Chinyelu back and when Alexis got hurt he lost his back up spot to Handlogten who is back as well. His is a 5 not a 4. They let Aberdeen go as well. Quote

I liked the addition last week when it was announced…but I also thought he was just a 10-12 mpg depth piece who could play his way into a bigger role in 26-27. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

What bang for your buck are you getting? Apparently you thought Baba was that and he ain’t. He is not getting 1.5 million from any team right now. FF is wanting 2.5 million and he is struggling with that. That’s what better players got. The market is crap man. Quote

The Washington kid who was a top 50 2025 recruit got passed on by SJ and KSU because his ask is insane now. Washington was going to pay him 7 figures. Quote

Would have gladly negotiated Federiko down to as close to $2mil as possible at the expense of Bailey and someone like Deuce Drake…if it were me. Understand that the timelines don’t always work like that, but with Bailey being one of the first additions, I personally would have looked for more two-way caliber players out on the perimeter…again if it were me. I do think with a legitimate rim protector and/or a couple of really good wing defenders this is a team that isn’t sweating it out on Selection Sunday. Quote
lillurk Posted May 1, 2025 Posted May 1, 2025 I don’t necessarily think Bailey/Alexis/Harris is a bad rotation at the 5 (and of course 2 of those 3 will see time at the 4 too). But the fact they’ve sniffed around other, less offensively versatile screen/dive/block/board/dunk bigs suggests to me they can still add one, despite Tyme et al making hedged suggestions that the roster is basically finished. If you’re looking for a part-time player, 15-20 minutes or less depending on opponent, I don’t think it’s a terribly rare and thus expensive thing. skhoosier2, Hoosierfanyuh and thebigweave 3 Quote

There are a lot of teams that will be interesting to see how they look after all this. We are one of them. I think offensively we will be perfectly fine and I think DeVries has historically shown he doesn’t need height for his bigs for defense. Personally I don’t think we will be sweating it out. Probably be ranked 30-40 at the beginning of the season and if we finish there we won’t be sweating. I think our defense numbers will improve thoughout the season. However that means jack. Prove it. moyemayhem and thebigweave 2 Quote

Apparently it is if we’re paying Alexis a million dollars. Quinten Post is on a two-way making $430k for the Warriors as a part time starter. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

For example we were told we were the highest bidder for Conerway at that price. Quote
