Don’t think even she thinks she’s a starter, girls team needs bodies at the moment lol

No doubt. As an 7-8th option def worth a look. However, to many of these types of players playing big minutes is how team falls off. Unlike Stoitjin and Merkle who could start on a good team, Spreen would not.

If this is the level of player team gets in portal there is a serious NIL or culture problem. More Merkle or Stoitjin type players and NIL would seem to be fine and no different then every other program losing top players and replacing them.

Outside of Yarden, none of the players entered will command much NIL anywhere. Yarden could be that. Rest zero chance.

Yes, realistically none of the transfer players would not command much NIL except for Garzon.  I was talking about their feelings/thoughts only.

Woah! She would look great at IU and could start as AJ's daughter and Moren can right the mistake of not getting her in first place.

Much better player then Spreen and loved what I saw in her potential when IU played Iowa.

Don't know why people are dismissing Spreen. Ali Patberg transferred from Notre Dame, where she had limited PT, and became a HUGE asset at IU. Chloe Spreen WAS Miss Indiana B-Ball. I saw her play in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star game, and she was dynamic--taking the ball to the hoop and shooting effectively. I don't know why she disappeared on the bench at Alabama, but, again, Ali Patberg disappeared at ND and emerged big time at IU. Ditto somewhat for Sydney Parrish at Oregon. Sometimes you just need the right situation to shine.

Those were 5* recruits on loaded elite team. Spreen was a recruit just outside top-100 on a good but not great team. Not same thing.

Would love to take her on as a backup but if playing big minutes that is type of player that will move you towards bottom of league. Not dissing her but she has limitations neither Patberg or Parrish did.

A. J.'s daughter would be most interesting because he was pretty vocal on Twitter at the time that IU wasn't expressing any interest in his daughter and never did extend an offer.

Maybe that's why though? Recruiting sons and daughters of legends can be a slippery slope especially now a days when everyone is online bitching and moaning about everyone and everything. Moren doesn't seem like the kind of coach who's going to placate to vocal players or parents who think they deserve playing time or whatever.

If you want "can't miss" territory, then we should only be interviewing Gianna Kneepkens, Serah Williams, Cotie McMahon, et al.  But, probably nobody here thinks we can get those top-flight players . . . . so, we are bumped down a rung, and have to take chances, or hope that CTM can work her magic on a squad that may not be player-for-player the equal of South Carolina or even Ohio State.

The solution is that when you are at the top (which we were 2 years ago), you recruit the absolute top players, but we missed that boat. We should have had a 5-star replacement for Mackenzie Holmes, a first team All-American, . . .  and that never happened.

I don't expect stars. However, the next level players like Merkle, Stotijn, and Guyton are within reach and that is the type of players fans should want to be competitive at level they were at last yr or better and can be starters. Its also the level Shay and Strip were at as transfers last year.

Spreen is a level below that. There is a tier between stars and Spreen's level and those are who IU needs to be going after as featured players. To many Spreen's in main role will put team on tier with bottom five teams in league. As a 7th or 8th option on bench bring Spreen on, but need higher levels players for main roles and team clearly has access to those as evidence by Merkle and Stotijn visit.

T.Moren can make Spreen a defensive specialist.  Then she can make a shot here and there (if she can become enough).

It she's not really good enough to make an impact, CTM has to face that (which I'm sure she will). Yarden Garzon herself was a sleeper, and turned out to be a big hit. You need that "Belichick" intuition to get people no one else is paying attention to, like TOM BRADY!

I guess the "Do not contact" tag is just a courtesy?

I thought that meant the transfer either knew where they were going -- or wanted to do the contacting themselves. I saw a report that Kentucky had "reached out" to Garzon. But isn't that a violation of the DNC tag? Or maybe she contacted them? Or maybe she let it be known that she was OK with contact with UK?

One thing I found kinda funny. Some website that brands itself as a leader in women's basketball news listed several "possibly (sic) landing sports" for Garzon -- including Purdue, Nebraska and Wisconsin. C'mon -- if she's leaving IU, she ain't gonna go to Nebraska, Purdue or Wisconsin.

I think dnc only applies to coaches and staff, I thought I read it was another player on social media. I could be wrong on both also.
