NCAA Women's Bball Transfer Portal

Recommended Posts

CTM used the portal last year and expectations are she will again this year so I've started a new thread devoted to the women's program.

Lafayette’s Makayla Andrews (5'10" G) has entered the transfer portal, per source. This season the senior averaged 13.2 ppg and 5 rpg this season.  42% FG;  22% on 3s;  78% FT.            Over her 102 game career:  11.5p;  5.2r.     42% FG;  24% on 3s;  79% FT.

Talia Goodman @goodmansport also does a good job of keeping up with women's portal news.

Chen/Princeton somebody is going to get some high quality help.  She says not thinking much about it until after season and will take visits.

Rumors could be UCONN, Stanford, UCLA on list.  There are those schools that just seem to always have sustainability in easier to get the best players available.

Does anyone have any info on the Currie-Jelks situation.I heard personal problems but nothing more.

Redshirt maybe or will she be back at all? She oozes potential from what I saw the little she played.

Can't redshirt.  She logged playing time in 3 separate games.

Young lady had an IU offer in 2021.  Posting it purely for reference as I'm not interested in signing up damaged goods.

Ally VanTimmeren (6-3 JR forward, Allendale, MI) has entered the portal, as a grad xfer with two years' eligibility out of Boston College WBB; didn't play in 2023-24 after suffering a preseason knee injury.

Kentucky’s Maddie Scherr has entered the transfer portal, a source tells @TheNextHoops. Averaged 12.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 3.4 apg.

Another woman who had an IU offer.  Started her career at Oregon.  She and Sydney would have been teammates as freshmen.

I think we’re going to have a really solid portal opportunity for a big this year. Like, one currently on a tourney team that wants to spend their Covid year going for a title. Basically return a ton of shooters and an all B1G point guard elite at feeding the post, and you just need to plug into Mack’s spot and be a mentor for Lilly for a year.

Just read that in 2018 the NCAA amended the rule to 4 separate games so maybe there's a chance.

I don't know her circumstances or if it's even a option with the staff.

Football different than basketball for some silly reason.  Believe there is no exception in basketball.  Play a minute; lose a year.

Looks like hardship waiver is in play.

12.8.4 Hardship Waiver. A student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition by the conference or the
Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement for reasons of "hardship." Hardship is defined as an incapacity resulting from an
injury or illness that has occurred under all of the following conditions: (Revised: 1/10/92 effective 8/1/92, 1/14/97, 8/1/97,
4/26/01 effective 8/1/01, 11/1/01, 4/3/02, 8/8/02, 3/10/04, 5/11/05, 9/18/07, 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08, 4/24/08, 7/31/14, 6/30/22
effective 8/1/22 for injuries and illnesses occurring on or after 8/1/22)
(a) The incapacitating injury or illness occurs in one of the four seasons of intercollegiate competition at any two-year or fouryear
collegiate institutions or occurs after the first day of classes in the student-athlete's senior year in high school;
(b) The injury or illness occurs prior to the first contest or date of competition of the second half of the playing season that
concludes with the NCAA championship in that sport and results in incapacity to compete for the remainder of that
playing season; and
(c) The injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of
competition or 30 percent of the maximum number of contests or dates of competition of the playing season that concludes
with the NCAA championship as set forth in Bylaw 17 for the applicable sport plus one contest or date of competition,
whichever is greater.
12.8.4.1 Administration

Thanks for posting.  I suppose the big question is exactly what kept her off the court this year and does it meet the criteria to be deemed an injury or illness.  The above might help explain why she did only actually play in 3 games.
