An FYI, after that article was written she closed year on a terrible team as strong as she started it.

Do you mean she returned to playing better?

Merkle's individual game stats at the link below.  Number that jumped out at me is of her 240 total rebounds, 100 were off the offensive glass.  And she committed just 65 fouls in 28 games.

Sign Gracie Merkle (commitment and run the floor)up and let’s go.  That has a great making story.  Gazon, Merkle, Ciezki, Beaumont, incoming freshman, and their are a couple wings out there and another guard…..and IU are back.

It is an upgrade.

Yes. In February, she was scoring big at level she did in November and December leading team many nights. She was bad in January, hence the article. However, since she was good again right after that article was written and would be in a much better culture and system, everything written is pretty much not at all relevant anymore.

Add in Kneepkens (which may well be my own dream that wont happen), and you have basically recreated the team that was at or near the top of college basketball for four seasons from 2021-24. A good center surrounded by four elite shooters which is signature of Moren.

Garzon, Merkle, Ciezki, Kneepkens, and Beaumont is exactly that with Merkle and Kneenpkens being a bit more athletic.

Don’t see any negative in getting merkle, can score and rebound and has superior height and length. The twitter world is angry about her athleticism, but Betts isn’t an Olympic sprinter, and Mack wasn’t either. She’s a heck of a lot bigger than Mack. Lack of easy buckets on the block and finishing was a big problem this year, and led to the thorn in the side scoring droughts that cost us many games. Rebounds at a good clip, another big problem this year. Fills a need. I’d like to think she can perform better at Iu than Penn state.

Merkle seems to be in the tradition of Audie Crooks or Janel McCarville (if you can remember her from Minnesota), i.e. a "big body" who is surprisingly mobile and effective.

I would say that if we get Merkel that we still need to add another quality big in case of injury.  And I agree that Merkel has a lot of tools, but she really needs to get in better shape.  If that happens, she could be pretty dominant.

My wife stood beside her and said she was the largest woman she has ever seen..lol..with great post moves to boot.

Her hands cover half a womens basketball.

She's a horse. Just get her in conditioning where she can go 35 minutes a game and let it rip.

Talia Goodman -

Arkansas transfer Phoenix Stotijn is currently on a visit to Indiana, per her IG. The 5-9 freshman averaged 7.2 ppg this season.

Her stat line won't knock your socks off.

Looks like an interesting player--she played a lot for a freshman--must have inspired confidence in coaching staff at Arkansas. I wonder what Valentyna Kadlecova could have done with the same amount of PT as a freshman. ??--did Phoenix say in her IG who else she saw at IU on this visit?

Why would you wonder that?

Please don't answer that question with the myth that CTM doesn't play FR... it's preposterous even the newest IUWBB fans should know that's bogus.

Arkansas finished as the 13 seed in the SECT, one and out,  and went 10-22 on the season, what a poor example to use.

I doubt that's something she'd say on her IG.

I know it was reported that Yardon met with the staff this week and received a raised offer. I still would not be shocked to see her enter the portal

Yardon in the portal
